As the produce is flying in (tomatoes, peppers, squash family) we got a solid game of hide the zucchini and squash going on. But I’m winning! As the family has chowed down Lemon squash muffins, snickerdoodle zuc bread, zuc parm chips, even chocolate zucchini cake are just some of the ways our veggies have filled our bellies.

I squealed with excitement as I strolled through the pumpkin patch today to see my hardwork the last couple months has paid off. I greatly appreciate the bees taking over and doing their share to help pollinate. I did some pollinating with a toothbrush the last few week but I could really use the extra help as it’s peek time and truly only a few days window to get them to “take”.

Time to hunker down and prep for ”hibernation” those cold temps came quick. Busy weekend on the farm. Turned all the animals heated waterers on, got their bedding fresh and dry, got a family routine to keep the wood burner in the barn going, made our homemade burger meat for the season, got a batch of chicken and dumplings going from our own meat birds and garden veggies, and of course made the pig meals for the week.

Meet Daisy…. She joined our family this spring. One random day showed up at our pond and hasn’t left since. She stayed at the pond for about 5-6 weeks. One morning we found her at our chicken run! She had tried to recruit geese and turkeys to come with her (thankfully they passed) but we have watched her chat it up with them. 😂🙈 Her new schedule EVERY day about 7am she waddles from the pond and hangs out chatting with the chickens the whole day. When they go to bed (roost) in the coop she waddles back down to the pond to swim and rest. Annnnnd we will see her again in the morning where now she knows she is spoiled with fresh food and water.

Sunday is meal prep day for the week in our house for humans and all animals 💕 Today 97% of the items used were all from our farm or the neighbors. Only dairy items were purchased. It’s a lot of work but so worth it!
