Veiled Arc's Vision was awarded a BIS today at the BVRA show under Judge Allan Ormond! He left an impression on all the judges with his confidence and blossoming mane and effortlessly posed his way through BOB in all three shows.

Vision is a repeat breeding that produced last years Youth Lionhead of the Year, Look My Way and Convention BOB doe, Blackberry.

Fun fact, we sat on his Sire Rolling Meadows Persius for a year (bred him once) before Riker really tried him out in his shaded program. Vision's dam is our very own Chaffee.

He has two brothers who just might be available at convention for a breeder who also likes to hold onto bucks 😆. Because why do we need a Seal, SS, and REW trio of brothers?

Operation Unicorn is underway! On our way home from the Orange Coast Rabbit Club show in OC we couldn't resist the opportunity to meet up with Little Farm In Bonita (Little Stars Rabbity) and bring together her two Tort-lilac doe sisters (middle) with our two young Tort-lilac brothers (outsides) for breeding evaluations.

It is with great pleasure we share that all four of these beauties now reside together. Once the boys are ready, we hope this small, but mighty, rare concentration of Tort-lilacs will increase our possibilities for more quality lilac-torts from our chocolate programs!

A very special thank you from Diana Gerritsen and I, to Rebekah at Mountain Ledge for fundamental does in this adventure ❤️

Long limb is one of the least desirable traits we occasionally come across in Lionheads. If a rabbit has the silhouette of a downhill skiier coming out from under that bib, bags get packed and we call a taxi.

No pics of weak front ends available. But here is a pic of Boops being overly dramatic about wanting a nap. She is ridiculously comfortable being held.

Here comes the 100+ degree summer. We have been preparing the rabbits to hunker down in a dark temp controlled environment until September.
20 growout worthy juniors weaned & evaluated at the start of the week. Then during yesterdays barn air systems check we discovered the electrical connection was frying. As in BLACK and HOT. My backup system was not ready so there was some calculated scrambling 🤦‍♀️. Thank goodness hubby doesn't let me flounder for long. Barn is back to good this morning. But I am now behind on mowing the lawn and powerwashing the back porch. Rabbits are safe, that's the important part.

So here is my favorite memory from this weeks big undertaking. Riker bred 2022 Youth BOB Convention winner GC Blackberry (seal) to her brother GC Mr. Mason (also a seal) for a 2023 Convention litter. These are full siblings to his Youth Lionhead of the Year, Look My Way (they were all excellent animals- she was just simply exceptional) This is the closest breeding our barn has ever entertained. You get the best and the worst hidden in the lines, it is known. I was SUPER skeptical, but my dude here was absolutely dead set on the pairing and he was willing to take the risk.

See that smirk on his face, he doesn't regret his decision! There sits three seal bucks with inappropriate names and they all get growout cages. Type drives our evaluations and headmount, frontline, barrel and topline take precedence in our eyes at 8-12 weeks. It is a pleasure to work with Riker when we go over litters. He has an eye for symmetrical proportions ❤️

These sisters are sweet as can be. This is what they look like at 3 months old after their first grooming. No slicker, just a simple blunt metal comb. The difference in their face wool clearing is super evident. For Sure is on the left and she sports the facial wool cap characteristics with clearing anticipated well over her brow. She is covered in wool over her back with only a dollar bill size saddle clearing. I Know is on the right and she is giving facial fur clearing vibes with that clean start at the nose and fluid transition wool covering her brow. She is also a lot further along on her saddle fur and slight clearing of separation up her shoulder. Both does are busting at the seams with density and rockin brickhouse compact bodies.

Analyzing and tracking the various stages of clearing and what characteristics to expect from your rabbits takes tedious dedication. I'm honestly suprised to see both of these facial constructs in the same litter with the excellent fiber qualities present in both.

Meet Veiled Arc's The Boss, The Manager, & The Staff Member. Not pictured here is their seal sister, Karen

9 weeks old and Riker already has them locked into their career choices. Fluffy faces get higher paying positions. Early clearing and jumbo ears not so much.

You can tell by their bibs that we don't brush 9 week olds around here. They live in solid bottom community housing when they leave mom and they are allowed to be messy. If they can't make it to 12 weeks without grooming, they don't stay. These be the rules of quality fiber.
