The mystery ingredient in the new Carrot Cake Oatmeal Sandwich Cookie is vinegar! Did you guess that’s what I added to make it mimic the tang in a cream cheese frosting?!? According to the California Department of Public Health, for Cottage Food Operations, cream cheese is considered a potentially hazardous ingredient when used in a frosting (basically for anything that is fresh and not baked). So ChatGPT suggested vinegar to give a basic buttercream frosting a tang like cream cheese. I also use marshmallow creme to help aid in the texture of cream cheese. What do you think?!?
