Verni and Halaby Farms

Verni and Halaby Farms We go to multiple farmers markets around the Los Angeles area looking to serve wonderful customers who enjoy delectable seasonal fresh and dry fruits.

We sell products from olives to fruits such as apples and peaches. Our family farm first started in 1923 in Fresno and Clovis California with our famous olives and olive oil. Ever since then our farm began growing produce from apples to nectarines. We then decided we would start drying all of our organic fruit in order to serve our customers needs. All of our dry fruit is either dehydrated or sun

dried at the time of their season and stored at our very own farms. All our fresh fruits are certified organic from the state of California. So do not be shy and come join us at the many farmers markets around Los Angeles! Locations! Tuesday

We are open with new items! Fresh green plums are in the market! These are sour and often eaten with salt. There are other uses for these including pickling, adding to salads or just eating by themselves. Also still available are fresh young almonds! These won't be around much longer. We are also welcoming back Nick from Verni and Halaby Farms! We are here until 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Old Town Newhall library.

NEW VENDOR ALERT! Welcome Sue's Butters and Baskets to our market! They bring amazing almond butters to our market. Their rotating lineup of flavors currently includes plain almond butter, honey almond, coconut almond and savory BBQ almond.

They source their almonds from the best! Of course this means their almonds come from Verni and Halaby Farms who also sells at our market. Nut butters contain heart healthy unsaturated fats which are important for overall health. Almond butter is also full of vitamin E.

None of their nut butters contain unnecessary additives or chemicals such as partially hydrogenated oils which health experts recommend avoiding. These are packed full of goodness. Best of all, you can get a free sample of their entire lineup. Stop on by and take a look this Saturday from 8:30 until 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Old Town Newhall library.

Who feeds your family? A small handful of companies control almost everything sold at supermarkets. Most brands seen in stores are owned by these companies. AB InBev alone owns over 600 brands of beer. This handful of companies spent about $175 million dollars lobbying in 2020. (For the record, we spent $0.)

These companies control everything from seeds and fertilizers to what farmers grow. The focus is on producing food as cheap as possible and maximizing profits. The effects of this monopoly are far reaching. The system has been blamed for poor nutritional offerings, farmer suicides, reliance on food stamps/government assistance and exploitation of workers to name a few.

When you spend money at the supermarket, farmers see about .15 cents of every dollar you spend on produce. When you spend money at a farmers market, the farmers and producers get 100% of what you spend.

We offer a better way. Our farmers grow for quality. They grow varieties that are harder to grow because they taste better. What we sell is also picked and at our market within days instead of weeks or months. We know that fresher produce not only tastes better and lasts longer, it is more nutritious.

The people on the right of this image are not actors and these are not stock photos. These are the actual farmers and producers that feed our family and many other families in the Santa Clarita Valley. And, you can meet many of them personally at our market each Saturday.

We would also encourage you to read this great article on our food industry from The Guardian at : https://bit.ly/3hTBwHS

Please, visit any LA County certified farmers market and support our small family farms. We'd love for you to visit ours. We are open every Saturday from 8:30 until 1pm in the parking lot of the Old Town Newhall library.
