🐑❤️ And just like that… breeding season is ON!
Last week we pulled the last CIDRs, gave the last PG 600 injections, and turned our final group of ewe lambs out with the rams! 🐑

But what do all those letters and injections mean? 👀

CIDRs help start and synchronize the girls’ heat cycles. Using them helps us get a group of girls cycling and breeding around the same time, which makes lambing season a whole lot easier to plan! 🐑🍼

Now the rams have one job… GET TO WORK! 😂🐏💨

We change chalk colors every ~17 days to help us track breeding cycles and see if a ewe comes back into heat.

🐑🥁 And now for the results…! 🥁🐑

Well, nobody picked the right ewe! 😂

#4 Sassy took the lead and lambed first with a single ram lamb! 💙🐏 Then, less than 6 hours later, #5 Gail decided to go BIG… with QUADS! 😳🐑🐑🐑🐑

It was a busy few hours and a very short night, but we were able to save 3 of her 4 babies! ❤️ Both 1st time mamas are doing great!

Fall lambing is under way! Watch for more cuteness coming soon!

🐑☀️ Southdown Sunday: Sun ☀️🐑

Meet Sun, twin sister to Star! Born January 13 and sired by Brick Howse, Sun is our easygoing, laid-back girl, just like her mama. 💛

She may be a little more chill than her sister, but she can still hold her own! At the 2026 Tama County Fair, Sun was named Reserve Champion Purebred Ewe Lamb! 🏆☀️

Sweet, calm, and pretty special—we're excited to see what the bright future holds for this girl! 🐑💛

Nothing gets the girls moving quite like a fresh VitaLix mineral tub! 😂

With lambing right around the corner and breeding season here, keeping free-choice minerals available is especially important. Minerals help support overall health, reproduction, and the increased nutritional needs of our ewes and their growing lambs. 🐑🍼❤️

We have predicted lambing dates based on when each ewe was marked by the ram, but we all know sheep don’t always read the calendar! 😂 With a typical gestation of around 145 days, we’re getting VERY close!

🐑📹 One of the things we LOVE about our barn cameras!

We are getting SO close to lambing season, and these cameras have become one of our favorite tools around the farm! ❤️

We can check on the girls anytime—while we’re at work, before bed, or even in the middle of the night—without having to make a trip out to the barn. 👀🐑

Of course, nothing replaces actually checking on our girls, especially when lambing starts, but having a set of extra eyes watching 24/7 gives us a little extra peace of mind!
