Shameful. That tooks some serious coordination to steal that many steers. Keep cameras on your barns folks!

Sometime during the overnight hours of May 2 to May 3, more than five dozen 13-week-old Holstein steers were stolen from a west-central Ohio farm. According to local Sheriff Doug Timmerman, the total estimated value of the 64 steers is more than $100,000.

This afternoon, I was driving our buggy through the pasture, just enjoying the day, when suddenly I saw a little baby calf lying right in front of me. The calf wouldn’t even raise his head because his mama had bedded him down while she went off grazing.

As I carefully drove around him, the mama came running to make sure her baby was safe.

That’s the way it is with Christ. When we learn to walk in the steps Jesus has for us, we can be assured that all we have to do is call on His name and He comes running.

That baby calf knew to be still and trust that its mama had placed him in the safest place possible. We must learn to do the same by trusting that when we follow Jesus’ leading, He guides us into the safest places for our lives. Sometimes that may even look like stepping into dangerous territory, but if we are listening for His voice and direction, He will lead us to our purpose.

As I was leaving, I saw that little calf up and feeding from his mama. In the same way, we must feed on God’s Word so we can recognize the direction Jesus wants us to go.
