Tonight’s din din features Hays Family Farm ground beef in the cheeseburger pinwheels, Loave Thy Neighbor* kimchi and honey fermented jalapeño, Putnam Micro-Farm & Co. LLC* red Russian kale micro greens, neighbor and friend Donna’s famous pickles (grown in my back yard), the last of the garden tomatoes, and my 5 year old’s special sauce made with Triple J & C Farms* amazing new brand of ketchup!

This batch of kimchi is brought to you by none other than Ms Kim B Cartwright from Cartwright Farms a little of east of 75, just south of the Vandalia Trail in Coatesville! You’ve probably seen her “open” sign before, if you drive on 75 a lot. I asked her (probably a little too late in the season 😁) to grow some cabbage for me, and like the good friend she is, she got to work! Her farm is a wonderful place - a long drive past a cute little barn, through some shade trees and over a little creek. She has a beautiful pond stocked full of fish, an enormous garden (with plenty of pumpkins coming soon if not already!), and a rock painting station for the kiddos. Kim sells her produce and flowers at the Canaan Community Church Farmers Market, and sells eggs right from the farm. Salt of the earth, this lady. She’s always up for a chat, so be sure to shake her hand and say hello at the next market on 10/10! 🙏❤️

A particularly beautiful bake this morning! This loaf is one of my regular’s favorites, Smoked Gouda and Bacon! The smoked Gouda is a local cheese made by the Amish in Parke County, available at Sand Ridge Farm Market & Meats, llc. The bacon used is of the finest and most delicious, from Hays Family Farm. Fermentation on this batch went beautifully. The proof is in the volume/rise of each loaf as it bakes, and the deep brown, crackly, blistered crust it forms in the final steps of baking. I won’t lie, I still do a little victory dance when I pull the lids off, even after a few years of baking and selling sourdough! 😁 I see it as a sure sign that I still love what I do, and love even more to share this little gift with my friends and neighbors! 🙏❤️

A wonderful way to finally break my fast today, using some of Ms Megan’s* cultured garlic herb & Parmesan cream cheese, sweet peppers, celery, and Kim B Cartwright’s* cherry tomatoes. Each bite is topped with a little Loave Thy Neighbor* kimchi for a tangy, spicy gut boost! Washed down with a new and very exciting kombucha flavor featuring Putnam Micro-Farm & Co. LLC* wheatgrass microgreens. Yuuuuum!

I’d love to see YOUR weekend market creations! I hope you were able to make it out to at least one of our amazing local markets. It was the perfect weekend for it! 🙌🙏❤️
