As a veteran, I understand what it's like to receive a care package while deployed. It's extra special when you know it comes from someone you've never met.
This Christmas, there are more than 63,000 service members who will be in a foreign land on Christmas.
Support Our Troops Care Packages is accepting donations to send to the men and women serving around the world in 11 different countries. If you'd like to help fill a care package, Shiloh Acres Family Farm will be collecting items for the program.
For ideas on what is most appreciated by the troops, go to www.supportourtroops.org and look through their suggested list. (Don't worry about the rules...Support Our Troops will take care of that stuff.)

Fall is my favorite time of year…leaves turning colors then floating to the ground, apple everything, and pumpkins everywhere.
When you’re done with your fall pumpkins, please consider donating them to a local farmer. They make great dewormers and delicious treats for goats, cows, pigs, and chickens.
The pumpkins must be free of candle wax, paint and markers.
If Shiloh Acres Family Farm is your local farm, we’ll be happy to repurpose your pumpkins when you’re ready.

The best part of my morning routine is giving belly rubs to the piggies. They follow me around after they eat and while I’m filling their water bowls, they flop down beside me. 💛

We’ve decided to withdraw from the Tractor Supply Farmer’s Market event on Sunday.
Saturday we’ll be at the Coats Farmers Day Festival from 9am-5pm with all of our pork (including breakfast sausage and Italian sausage), eggs, soaps and other handmade products.
You’ll find us in the Farmer’s Market corner. The weather is promising to be beautiful so come by and see us.

It’s 60 degrees, been raining all day and the winds are gusting at 41mph. A billy goat is chasing a horse, six little piggies are running from the chicken coop back to the pig pen, and the ducks are enjoying the driveway puddles. Hurricane who???Just another day on the farm.

Please support your local farmer.
If you think farmers market prices are high compared to your neighborhood grocery store, think about this:
When it rains, the farmer is outside feeding the livestock,
When it’s hot outside, the farmer is outside frequently checking animal waters,
When there’s a drought, the farmer loses produce to lack of water,
When it floods, the farmer looses produce to overwatering.
Being a farmer is a job that has no days off.

When you take into account the effort and hours put into the products you see at the local farmers market, the price you pay is a great value.

We’ll be at the Coats Farmers Day again tomorrow with all the usual products you’ve come to love from our farm. We’re also bringing some pesticide free produce from Sow Sunny Farm.
Visit our booth and take home the components of a delicious meal - pork, eggs, veggies, and fruit. 😊

If you haven’t checked out the Coats Farmers Market yet, there’s still time. The next event is tomorrow from 8am to 12pm. We’ll be there and hope you will too.
We have a new product available that’s great for repelling mesquites, flies, and gnats. It’s all natural, non-greasy, non-sticky, and smells refreshing.

Also, you don’t want to miss our booth guest. Sow Sunny Farm will be on site with some delicious veggies: Zebra cherry tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes, mini plum tomatoes, sweet banana peppers, shish*to peppers, serrano peppers, english cucumbers, purple potatoes, garlic (stem on braids), and beautiful flowers.

This beautiful Muscovy duckling was hatched last night and is still too weak for her mama’s liking so we’re ducky sitting until it can hold it’s head up a little better. ❤️

At our booth today, you can pick up eggs from free roaming chickens, ducks and guineas, American Guinea Hog pork, handmade goat milk soap, recycled feed bag totes, and more.
