Thursday, May 28, 2026 - A School Day for the Little Goaty Goats

We got to visit the Kindergartners & 5th Graders at Fernan STEM Academy

The weather held up and made for a lovely day to:
🐐 Learn about Nigerian Dwarf Goats
🐐 Have a little goat race of which of our adults goats can eat Alfafa pellets the fastest
🐐 And of course, baby goat hugs & snuggles 💕

🧼 Kindergartners also went home with a Little Something from Our Little Farm - "Lovely Lavender" Goat Milk Soap

Candlelight Milking

A crazy thunderstorm and winds passed through last night. On our way back from town, there was a downed tree blocking the road about a mile away from home with no chainsaw on hand.

Luckily, it was nearby a friends' home who we asked for help. As we got back to the scene, there was a bunch of others already working on it. Through team effort it was cleared away - oh how we just love our community ❤️

Our neighborhood also lost power. Thought it was going to be restored around 11pm so we held off on milking the goats so we could use our milking machine. It went past midnight and we still didn't have power.

Candlelight hand milking it was. The bright moon did help to light up the way until it made it's way over the mountain behind us. By around 3am, collected over 2 gallons of milk that was all put off to the side for the baby goats since using our milking machine is more sanitary and we also could not chill it like we normally do.

Finally slipped into bed and what do you know, about 15 minutes later, the power came back on 🙃

Baby Goats in Downtown Coeur d'Alene!

Every Wednesday 4-7pm starting May 27th, find one of these rocks at another vendor at the 5th Street Farmers Market.

Then find us and exchange the rock for a session of "Baby Goat Snuggles" in our "Goat Gauntlet"

If you can't find the rock, don't worry - there's plenty of baby goat snuggles to be had. 🩵🐐🩵

Monday, May 11th - Thursday, May 14th Farm to Table 2026

This was our 3rd year in having the opportunity to share our love of goats at Farm to Table at Kootenai County Fairgrounds

Farm to Table is a hands-on field trip for local 5th graders to learn about agriculture and help grow understanding, respect, and appreciation for the hard work behind every meal.

About 800 students visited the Dairy Goat Barn and experienced several stations manned by 4-H families UI Extension, Kootenai/Shoshone 4-H Program and STCU volunteers.

🐐 Students learned about a Goat's Digestive System
🐐 Hand fed Alfafa Pellets to some junior goats - Gigi & Party Coat
🧼 Washed their hands with Goat Milk Soap
🥛 Had an opportunity to Milk a Goat
🍮🍫🧀Sampled various Goat Milk Products such as Cajeta (Goat Milk Caramel), Dark Chocolate Pudding, Vanilla Custard and Chevre (Cheese)
🐐💕And, of course, got Baby Goat Snuggles in the Goat Gauntlet

This year, our youngest son, Fritz, is also a 5th grader. He got the whole Farm to Table experience with his class and was thrilled to welcome his classmates to the goat barn

This week was much earlier mornings and it definitely wasn't easy getting everything prepared each day. However, with the help of all our amazing volunteers, being able to see all the joy on everyone's faces was worth it. We are truly lucky to be a part of such a wonderful community mission.

🩵🩵🩵 Wethers 🩵🩵🩵

Our next set of Little Goaty Goats are our bucklings that are available as pet "wethers" and are ready to go as bottle babies or after weaning, typically around 8 weeks of age.

They are from ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association) registered stock but will not come with papers.

But as with all our baby goats, they are overly friendly and in your pocket.

Bucklings 🩵🩵🩵

The majority of the boys born on our little farm are available as pet "wethers" and we have a select few offered as intact bucks for breeding. This year, these 3 are available. Either as bottle babies or after weaning.

They will be ADGA registered and DNA sent in.

🩷🩷 We Can't Keep Them All 🩷🩷

We're retaining 4 doelings this year but we have others available to go to their new homes either as bottle babies or after weaning.

They have been bottle fed since day 3 and have been well socialized which makes for overly friendly, in your pocket, baby goats.
