Freestone Peaches were few and are done. We'll be planting more trees next spring.
Our next fruit is Italian Prunes, which should be ready to pick starting next weekend, September 13 & 14. Pears aren't ready yet but will keep testing them.
Apples are maturing but could use a good frost, which I'm not in a hurry for;)
Summer has passed quickly & Fall is just around the corner! Thank you for your business this season ♥️

🍑🌿 Grow a Peach Tree from Seed at Home 🌿🍑

Growing a peach tree from seed might sound tricky, but with a bit of patience and the right steps, it's totally doable—and rewarding!

1️⃣ Choose a Healthy Seed
Pick a ripe, juicy peach and remove the pit. Clean off any fruit flesh with water. 🧼

2️⃣ Crack the Pit Carefully
Gently open the hard outer shell with a nutcracker or pliers to get the inner seed. Be careful not to damage it! 🛠️

3️⃣ Soak the Seed
Place the seed in warm water and let it soak for 24 hours to help it wake up. 💧

4️⃣ Cold Stratify
Wrap the seed in moist paper towel or sphagnum moss, place it in a sealed plastic bag, and refrigerate for 6–8 weeks. This mimics winter and helps the seed sprout. ❄️

5️⃣ Time to Plant
Check if it’s sprouting. If so, plant it in a small pot with well-draining soil. Bury it about 1 inch deep and water gently. 🪴

6️⃣ Give It Sun and Care
Place the pot in a sunny spot. Keep the soil moist (not soggy). When your seedling is about 6 inches tall, you can repot it or move it outdoors. 🌞

7️⃣ Extra Tips
Use organic compost for better growth and watch for pests. Healthy soil means a happy tree! 🌱

With care and a little patience, you’ll be on your way to growing your very own peach tree from seed. Good luck, and enjoy the journey! 🌸🌳

Well, it's Monday and a return customer of ours picked Cherries this morning here with her mom and baby:) She is a baker who you'll find at The Scale House on 8th & Havana & her business is called Scrumpdilyisious (sp). Please visit her & help her business grow:)
Also, it seems that no matter how many cherries are picked, there are still a ton left on the trees! We will be having gleaners out tomorrow to lighten the trees to share with local food banks. The sun is drying some of the cherries & we hate to waste them:(.

Plus, our Early peaches are ready for picking, at $2/lb.
Thank you for your business 🍑
