Released in 1999, the Minnewashta, or more commonly called Zestar apple, is a relatively new varietal from the University of Minnesota. Bred for winter hardiness, the fruit offers a bright, sprightly flavor with a delightful sweet-tart balance. We just picked them yesterday.

Our first pressing of apple cider is in the cooler, along with Gravenstein and Ginger Gold apples.

Open 9am - 3pm, August 29th and 30th

With cider season just around the corner we are looking for someone who needs the mash generated from our pressings. The mash is coarsely ground apples and free for the taking. In the past hog farmers have used it to supplement feed. Cattle can consume it in rationed quantities and chickens will use it as scratch. Contact the farm if interested. 509.238.4902

The Gravenstein is thought to have originated in Denmark, around the 17th century or earlier. The fruit has a tart flavor, and it is heavily used as a cooking apple, especially for applesauce. We use it exclusively in our apple butter.

It does not keep well, and it is available only in season. Neither cold storage, nor regular controlled atmosphere keeps the apples' distinctive aroma and taste.

Picking Gravenstein Sunday, August 16th, 9am - 3pm
