The artichokes are looking fabulous! Praying for a great harvest!! Artichokes are a family favorite.
Historically, ancient physicians—including the Roman-era herbalist Dioscorides—touted the plant as a natural digestive aid and liver tonic, particularly for the wealthy who overindulged at lavish feasts. History is fun.

Today’s big activity was caring for the bees and tending the bee yard. I spent the day w**d whacking around the hives and inspecting each colony to make sure everything is healthy and thriving.
This beautiful photo shows a frame of brood from one of my hives. A brood pattern refers to the arrangement, shape, and density of developing honey bees—eggs, larvae, and pupae—within the honeycomb.
A healthy brood pattern is solid, compact, and shaped like a flattened football, which is a strong indication of a productive queen and a thriving colony.
What do beekeepers look for?
🐝 Solid and uniform brood – 90% or more of the cells in the brood area are occupied by developing bees, with very few empty or skipped cells.
🐝 Consistent age groups – Brood appears in even patches, with neighboring cells containing bees at the same stage of development.
🐝 Worker brood – Most of the capped brood consists of flat, worker-sized cappings, showing the colony is raising the worker bees needed to keep the hive strong.
Days like today remind me that healthy bees are at the heart of a healthy farm. I love getting a glimpse into the incredible work happening inside each hive. farmlife
