Tri Gable Lea Farm is a family owned farm off the homestead of Mark Gostkiewicz & Naomi Niemann. We are growing wholesome produce in a bio-dynamic practice. We hope our market garden will eventually provide year-round food for CSA shares (community supported agrigulture).

Back from a fun chicken keeping class in Naugatuck. Last time I taught here I wasn’t late but I hit traffic that slowed me down and it was pouring rain…visiting today I drove right by it because I didn’t recognize anything on the outside. I had about an hour before class so I walked downtown, what a pretty area! I wish I had company to hang out at the cafes or bars and restaurants…there’s a lot to see in this strip.

Wow! 23 out of 24 fertile! These are available as straight run chicks, or I can grow them out until they can be sexed and introduced to your flock once they are fully feathered out. Half are lavender or noir crève cœurs (a rare French crested dual purpose breed that lays pale pink to white eggs) and the others are beautiful light Brahmas with feathered legs (a large dual purpose breed that lays buff brown eggs).

Let me know if you’re interested. I have some chicks now, and these Chicks hatch in 2 weeks. In June they will all be on pasture and old enough to be sexed.

I think a fair price for the time and effort would be $10/chick or $20 for a sexed pullet/cockerel for the crèves and half that price for the Brahmas.

Let me know if you’re interested. I have some 1week old chicks now, and eggs in the incubator set to hatch in 2 weeks. In June they will all be on pasture and easily old enough to be sexed.

I think a fair price for the time and effort would be $10/chick or $20 for a sexed pullet/cockerel for the crèves and half that price for the Brahmas.

13 chicks hatched between yesterday afternoon and this afternoon. There are 3 light Brahmas (beautiful white birds with black tips and feathered legs), 5 crève coeur (French crested breed, like a Polish), and 5 blue/green/olive egg layers

I’m planning on keeping them but I’m willing to sell any. Reach out if you’re interested. If you want me to raise them until they can be sexed/introduced to adults in your folk, I’d be willing to reserve them for you for a reasonable price.

I’ve been on the search for wild chokecherry saplings on my morning commute and I found serviceberry (juneberry/Saskatoon) and high bush blueberries!

It’s actually the first serviceberry I’ve found here! I’ve been on the lookout for two years. I didn’t know what their growth pattern, leaves, or flowers looked like until now…now I can spot them from a couple hundred feet away! They are all over and I never noticed them. I think in the past I they were cherry blossoms, but they are completely different.

I had read the book of the same name, describing the Serviceberry in a beautiful way. Pointing out their ecological/naturalistic and indigenous significances. I bought a few plants but they are so small. It’s taking a long time to size up.

Last summer, I was hiking with my family on a trail to see Mt Rainier on our first day in WA. We sampled the super sour Oregon grapes on the way up. At the vista we took pictures with Rainier behind us and I noticed the top of the slope was covered in spent juneberry plants! All had dried up little berries. Most had a little fungi growing on them. That moment made me so happy because I had finally found some!

Now finding them at home makes me just as happy.

Chicken butt! All the birds are back in one coop/run. For a couple months they have been separated into three mating groups. Now that eggs have hatched, it’s safe to let them commingle again

Goodnight seeds: the past few nights I put some tender crops on a heat mat to get them through these last few cold nights. I unplug it when I leave for work because the greenhouse gets up to temp once the sun is out
