We love our mornings spent with Andy and WLKI! Our Community Outreach Director, Nicole Johnson Smith, and Annie Fleck with the LaGrange County Prosecutors Office joined Andy yesterday to discuss April being Sexual Assault Awareness month and our event Break the Silence to raise awareness.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
On Wednesday, April 26, you're invited to take part in 'Break the Silence', in support of those who are victims of sexual assault. This event will begin at 6 pm at the LaGrange County Courthouse Lawn.
'Break the Silence' will include the following events:
• Denim Dash Walk – This walk is in support of a movement that began as a result of a 1992 r**e conviction that was overturned in Italy due to the victim being said to have worn tight jeans. It was believed that due to the tightness of the jeans, the victim had to have helped to remove the jeans, making the victim a willing participant. We encourage everyone to participate by wearing jeans in support of survivors of sexual harassment, abuse, assault, and r**e.
• Chalk the Walk - Using sidewalk chalk, decorate the sidewalk to show your support to those impacted by sexual assault.
• What Were You Wearing? - An art instillation of articles of clothing replicating outfits worn at the time of a sexual assault.
