Just a little update on a few new soaps and a few popular ones restocked. I am still actively making soaps and keeping stock, but haven’t photographed them as much as in the past. I have been working full time and preparing birds for upcoming poultry shows, so lots of good stuff going on. I plan to at least vend one more time outdoors at the Marshall Farmers market before the end of October and hopefully do a few winter indoor markets as my schedule and weather permits. Of course we plan to make a few trips to Toledo with soaps and other items before the holidays too. Here are a few soaps I’ve been working on…

I know I have mentioned this before but one of the things I absolutely love about black copper Marans is how colorful their eggs can be. Most of us breeders chase the darkest we can get because the are so rich and beautiful which adds to a stunning basket of eggs. However, I truly love all the colors they lay. It’s like Christmas morning every time I go to the nesting box. I love ALL their colors, even the lighter ones. I absolutely love the contrast it gives when displayed in the egg cartons.

Here are examples of eggs we get from our Marans. The lightest of eggs pictured are mostly from our older hens which are starting to molt and at the tail end of their laying cycle for the season. Early in their laying cycle, they lay darker. My darkest eggs pictured are from one of my older hens that consistently lays dark all season and several pullet eggs out of Bodie’s offspring and a few other copper headed pullets out of Bhevin’s group. I included random other colors from my Marans that laid heavy blooms of purple and pink or speckles as well as dark eggs. The colors and the birds amaze me with their beauty!

You never know what surprises your going to get with Marans eggs. I know most people only want the darkest Marans eggs. Don’t get me wrong, I love them too, but I also love speckles, purple, pink blooms and even the medium browns. I don’t want just one color brown, I want them all!!! 🥰
