🐴✨ When a baby horse is born, it doesn’t arrive with hard, sharp hooves.
Instead, it comes wearing something truly magical — what horse lovers call “fairy fingers” or “golden slippers.” 👶
These soft, rubbery coverings — scientifically called the eponychium — protect the mother while the foal is still in the womb, keeping her safe from tiny kicks. During birth, they make sure the baby’s hooves don’t injure the birth canal.
🌿 And here’s the wonder of nature: once the foal is born, the golden slippers dry, harden, and gently peel away within hours — revealing the strong little hooves underneath.
