One weekend. A weekend we never dreamed of. A weekend of countless champions. Not the cattle as champions, but the kids. As parents, Katie and I are the only ones who saw the work these kids put in to become the champions that they are. Yeah, they had good cattle to help them along the way, and some help from mom and dad with finances and barn work. But from the Junior show on Friday, to the open show on Saturday, they consistently showed us the champions they are becoming. They stuck it out, they toughed it out, and in the end we cried it out and celebrated! It didn't matter the animal, Kittles, Kokomo, Krusher, or King. 4 animals that helped us raise our kids another year. 4 animals that went from calves in the pasture to becoming teachers in the show ring. 4 animals that also represent our program. There's a lot of noise on Facebook about families buying $20,000 calves, or building a $90,000 show barn. But this one weekend our kids proved, affirmed, and justified that hard work, effort, focus, and determination can get you just as far without an expensive heifer or a fancy show barn. We're beyond proud. We're trying to stay humble. But we also need to share our story. This is J/K Charolais.

Northern Wisconsin Stat Fair Open Show. These kids busted their tails off when they got back from Jr. Nationals. They were determined, motivated, and wanted to improve in the worst way. They did it. All three of them.

The females. Three females that we feel represent our herd, our program, and our offerings. This is what our foundation looks like. Our family shares a lot of pride, and we feel these heifers represent just that!

Charolais Junior Nationals did not disappoint. Gabby's bull for this year, JKR Kickstart My Heart 415P, continues to impress. 2nd in his class. Power, balance, and style all in one package.

The three on the right is what it's all about. The smiles, the fights, the reward! Proud of our ranch, proud of our program, but most of all proud of our family.

The industry is producing more Choice and Prime carcasses than ever before—but profitability isn’t just about marbling anymore. As carcass weights rise and excess fat increases, the conversation shifts to what truly matters: efficiency, yield, and pounds of saleable red meat. Charolais genetics are built to meet today’s market demands—delivering performance, feed efficiency, muscle expression, and red meat yield without sacrificing quality grade.

JKR Kickstart My Heart 415P. That's one way to "kickstart" his show career.

Finally had the chance to take just the girls to a cattle show. Pioneer Showdown was great. It was the first show ever for Dalila and "Kittles" earning breed champion in both rings. Gabby and "Kokomo" just keep cruising....

The future of the Charolais breed is in good hands! These two young breeders made their own sale/purchase this weekend. Josie decided to sell one of her bred cows and Brody decided to purchase her. Josie had to state her initial asking price, Brody had to state his offer, and they both had to agree on the final sale. Yes, dad had to loan Brody the money until he sells his steer at the fair this summer. But watching these two strike a deal, Josie make a sale, and Brody make a purchase on their own should remind everyone why we do this. Congrats to Brody and Josie. Special thanks to Dale Hecht Jill Hecht and Harlin Hecht for helping make this happen!
