Fun thing happened today at Smit Family Farm. Todd Johnson falconer extraordinaire brought his beautiful red tailed hawk Haddie out to look for rabbits. It was so amazing to be so close to this beautiful bird. What a thrill!

Smit Family Farm

Our Farm is located 12 miles northwest of Eau Claire Wisconsin in the beautiful hills and valleys of western Chippewa County. Our enterprises focus mainly on raising sheep and in promoting the healthy pastures and meadows on which they thrive throughout the year. Our flock consists entirely of Icelandic sheep, an ancient, versatile and extremely hardy breed which has fed and clothed the people of Iceland for at least a thousand years. We do our best to allow the sun, rain, soil and these resourceful animals to produce the sustenance we need in a way that not only has a low impact on the land we use but actually improves and enriches it.

What we have to offer is meat, wool, sheepskins and by appointment, scheduled farm visit days, the opportunity to experience the fresh air, wonderful scenery and quiet peace of a very old but still viable way of life.
