The calm before the storm šŸ’• Hopefully we just get some much needed rain and the winds stay away. I have one more event this year and my dahlias are just starting to bounce back after the intense heat so fingers crossed šŸ¤ž The bloom pictured is JS Butterscotch and she is absolutely beautiful! Not sure how I ended up with her this year but Iā€™ll definitely grow her again

Decided to move this 1st year seedling on because she has lots of potential šŸ’• Is she perfect? No. But Iā€™ve found a lot of my first years really show thier stuff in year 2 so Iā€™m definitely willing to give her a shot!

Happy first day of fall!! This beautiful first year seedling accurately depicts the weather here in Tennesseeā€¦hot and crazy šŸ¤Ŗ While today is the first day we might not hit 90, itā€™s still too hot for the dahlias. This September has been the hottest on record and that coupled with no rain has made everything super crispy. We are all ready for the promised cool down so letā€™s go!! Seedling info: 5ā€™ tall, strong dark stems, great attachment, bloom size 5-6ā€, heat tolerance: does not gaf šŸ¤£

This season has been SO challenging! Mystery bugs, armadillos digging up rows, and this. Temps near or over 100 everyday for what feels like forever and not a drop of rain since the beginning of August. I know weather has been crazy all over thanks to our friend El NiƱo but this is absolutely the worst for dahlias. Fingers crossed fall is around the corner!

First year seedlings up for a chance to move on to 2027 šŸ’• We have been waiting patiently for the temps to drop but unfortunately we are still in the mid 90s every day with no measurable rain since the first week of August šŸ«£ I give the guys the credit they deserve for hanging in there!!
