🌻 We were excited to welcome IGA USA to Metro Atlanta Urban Farm! 🌱

It was a pleasure having members of the IGA team visit the farm, see our work firsthand, and learn more about how we are serving families, growing fresh food, and strengthening our community through urban agriculture.

At Metro Atlanta Urban Farm, we believe some of the most meaningful partnerships begin by bringing people directly to the land — where they can see the impact, meet the people behind the work, and experience the mission for themselves.

This October, we’re bringing together farmers, students, faith-based organizations, HBCUs, community leaders, advocates, and changemakers for a powerful three-day conference focused on building healthier, more sustainable, and more resilient communities.

Meet Our Summer Intern 2/2: Azraa Morgan 🌱🐝

Azraa Morgan is a rising sophomore at Hampton University, majoring in Marketing, and is originally from Detroit, Michigan. This summer, Azraa has joined us at Metro Atlanta Urban Farm as both an intern and volunteer, gaining hands-on experience in urban agriculture, food access, community service, and outreach.

Azraa’s passion for this work is deeply personal. Growing up in Detroit, where many communities face limited access to fresh and nutritious food, inspired her long-term goal of one day opening a grocery store in her hometown that provides families with affordable, fresh, and organic fruits and vegetables.

At Hampton University, Azraa hopes to start a Farm Club that reconnects students with Hampton’s agricultural roots while creating opportunities for students to learn more about farming, sustainability, food access, and community service. During her time with us, Azraa has gained firsthand experience growing and harvesting a variety of crops, including tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, and black beans. She also helps prepare food boxes for our Wednesday food distributions and assists with distributing fresh food directly to families in the community.

And her learning is not stopping there! Next week, Azraa will suit up in a beekeeping suit and learn firsthand how honey is harvested and extracted from the live bee colonies right here on our farm. 🐝🍯 Experiences like these are giving her the opportunity to understand agriculture from the ground up — from planting and harvesting crops to learning about pollinators, food production, and the systems that help a farm thrive.
Working alongside Mr. Bobby, and our marketing team Ms.Turner, Azraa has been able to learn both the agricultural and community-focused sides of our work while connecting her experience in marketing with her passion for food access and service.

For Azraa, this summer has been more than an internship. It has given her the groundwork, knowledge, mentorship, and real-world experience to begin building the ideas she hopes to bring back to Hampton University and, one day, to her hometown of Detroit. We’re proud to be apart of Azraa’s journey.

Meet Our Summer Intern 1/2: Josh Good 🌱

Meet Josh Good, a rising junior at Alcorn State University, Class of 2028, majoring in Agricultural Business and originally from Ridgeland, Mississippi.

This summer, Josh spent eight weeks interning with Metro Atlanta Urban Farm, working closely alongside Mr. Bobby and gaining hands-on experience in farming, food production, and community service.

Throughout his internship, Josh learned how to plant, grow, and care for a variety of crops, including corn, okra, hibiscus, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, and more. Beyond working in the fields, he also played an important role in our weekly food distribution by helping prepare food boxes and serve the approximately 250 families we support each week.

For Josh, this experience has helped strengthen his knowledge of agriculture while giving him a firsthand look at how farming can be used as a tool to serve and uplift a community.

In the future, Josh hopes to own and operate a farm of his own, using what he has learned to continue the legacy of agriculture, service, and giving back to communities in need.

We’re proud to be a part of Josh’s journey and to help provide him with the hands-on experience, mentorship, and agricultural knowledge that will support his future goals. We’re excited to see how he continues to grow and carry forward the mission of feeding and serving communities. 🌱💚
