Finally back in the states after spending an incredible week in QC with The Market Gardener Institute. Magic Thistle Farm has big ideas that will unfold in the next year or so as a result of this incredible gathering of agricultural experts from around the world. Market Gardener Institute Canopy Day 1 was absolutely incredible. We got to see THE farm that showed me it was possible to start farming small scale. This wasn’t just a tour for me - this was a pilgrimage.

I can’t believe we did so much in just a single day. Between meeting SO many incredible people doing amazing things, defining our purpose and sharing wins and woes, I’m so exhausted - but so excited for Day 2!

Howdy friends! What a wild couple weeks I’ve had. Talking with some farm friends helped to reassure me that the gap in production is not an individual experience this season - seems like the heat waves earlier really impacted everyone across the board. The smaller operations are definitely feeling it in a major way!

Since things are cooling down, I’m going to bump up my fall plantings so I can have goods in time for the end of September. Usually the solans can be relied on to produce well into October, but given their trepidation, I’m going to get the others started early.

Good morning friends! The farm won’t be taking any orders this week. After all the rain and cloud cover this past week, I have to do some maintenance and management at the plot. It’ll be back to normal scheduling next week! Thanks so much 🍆🍅
