We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary today and I couldn't be more proud of us. We have been through so much together and have accomplished so much. We've both grown as individuals and in our marriage. Through every season of joy, hardships and everything in between, here's to a lifetime to go

"Side by side, we'll be together always" ❤️

Yesterday we were working on getting 3rd cutting chopped, and everything was going good… until it wasn’t. You know those days when one thing after another goes wrong, and suddenly you’re 4, 5, 6 hours behind schedule?
By 9:30 that night, we were still unloading a load, had hay laying in the field, and had just plugged the blower pipe. I think by that point, we were all tired, frustrated, and ready for the day to be over.
Then Hank looked up at me and said, “We had a really good day.”
I looked at him and said, “What are you talking about? Everything went wrong. Nothing ever goes smoothly.”
And he said, “Yeah, but we got to do it with you and Daddy, and it was fun spending time with you.”
It caught me completely off guard.
I had been measuring the day by everything that went wrong—the hours we lost, the things that broke, the work that was still left to do. But to him, it was a good day because he got to spend it with his mom and dad.
Maybe sometimes I need to see life through the eyes of a child. Maybe the days that feel the most frustrating to me are still the days my kids will remember as some of the best.

We planted some sorghum Sudan grass for our first time yesterday. Hopefully it makes some excellent feed for our hefiers. All our corn is averaging about 40 days since planting and is looking great! Hopefully we get some much needed rain today.

Farm kids don’t just watch life happen, they step right into it.

This morning one of our girls had a uterine torsion- when the uterus twists during labor and the calf can’t be delivered normally.

Thanks to the expertise of Doc Joe and quick intervetion, the calf was born alive and healthy. Obviously a hard calving on the cow but she is expected to be ok as well. 🐄

When the windchill hits -20° I’m extra thankful for a warm tie-stall barn 🤍 The cows are cozy… but the real battle lately has been spreading manure and keeping the spreader from freezing and keeping my kids from taking my last tiny bits of my sanity 😅 Farm life doesn’t stop for the cold. Bundle up, keep moving, and figure it out one chore at a time.

But also spring can come any day now
