🐝 WHY COMPOSTABLE PACKAGING? 🌿

Because what surrounds our products matters, too!

At Bee Farmee Botanicals, we carefully consider our ingredients—what they do, where they come from, and why they belong in our formulations. That responsibility extends to our packaging.

Traditional plastic is durable, affordable, and convenient, but it can persist for decades or centuries, eventually breaking into smaller pieces called microplastics.

🌿 Enter compostable packaging!

Certified compostable materials are designed to break down through biological processes under specific conditions. With the right microorganisms, moisture, oxygen, and temperature, they can become carbon dioxide, water, and biomass.

One important note: Compostable doesn’t automatically mean backyard biodegradable. Some materials require the controlled conditions of an industrial composting facility—and compostable never means litter-friendly.

So why choose it?

🐝 LET'S TALK BEESWAX! 🐝

You already know beeswax is one of our favorite ingredients. But do you know what it actually does for your skin? Let's get a little scientific. 🔬

First, here's something important to understand: Moisture and hydration aren't exactly the same thing.

Hydration refers to the water content in your skin, while moisturizing involves helping your skin maintain that hydration and keeping it feeling soft and supple.

And that's where beeswax really shines!

💛 Beeswax is an occlusive ingredient. That's a fancy skincare term for something that forms a protective layer over the skin's surface, helping slow down *transepidermal water loss* (TEWL).

In everyday language? Your skin naturally loses water throughout the day, and beeswax helps reduce how quickly that happens.

💛 It works with your skin's moisture barrier. Your outermost layer of skin, called the *stratum corneum*, is responsible for keeping moisture in and environmental irritants out. Beeswax helps support that barrier's protective function by forming a breathable, water-resistant film on the surface.

💛 It softens and smooths. Beeswax also has emollient properties, meaning it helps skin feel smoother and softer. That's especially lovely for dry, rough areas like lips, hands, elbows, and heels.

Here's the really interesting part: Beeswax doesn't actually add water to your skin.

Instead, it helps your skin hold on to the moisture that's already there. That's why we love pairing it with other thoughtfully selected ingredients that complement its protective properties.

Nature is pretty clever, isn't she? 🌿

🍎🍂 Oh, how I LOVE this time of year!

As I've been preparing apples from this year's harvest for my Bee Farmee simmer pot pouches, I realized something. This might just be my absolute favorite part of fall!

There's something so comforting about the smell of apples and cinnamon simmering away, filling the house with warmth while that crisp autumn air drifts in from outside. It's one of those simple little pleasures that makes me wish fall would stick around just a bit longer. 🥰

When "harvest" is at the top of my to-do list for my weekend activities... it *might* mean that one of your favorite products is on its way to you soon!

Sumac, juniper berries, and evergreen leaves is what I'm harvesting this weekend. We'll also be dehydrating our harvest apples (Livesay Orchard, not mine) and orange slices in full preparation mode for Bee Farmee simmer pot pouches!

This week, we finished up our Sweater Weather essential oil blends for simmer pot infusions, so stay tuned and keep a look out. We are SO close! 🍂🥘🍎

Bee Farmee Botanicals is going to be part of The Farm Hippie Fillery, a brand-new Oklahoma-only zero waste shop opening inside Farm Hippie Claremore!

And now we officially know when you can come see it:

🐝 Boy, y'all are loving the Renew!

Thank you. Truly. 💛

Renew has been keeping me heading back to the workbench for fresh batches, and there are few things more satisfying as a maker than watching something I created become something you come back for again and again.
