Mulberry Lane

Mulberry Lane Mulberry Lane is a totally family owned and operated business. We literally grow tons of garden produce each year.

In the off season we are busy doing a wide variety of craft projects.

For anyone wondering, Mulberry Lane has officially closed its doors!

It’s been quite a long time since I posted anything here. This year has had its share of challenges for sure. We may have a few more tomatoes and peppers to sell, but other than that I think we are winding down the season. There won’t be any carrots or squash to sell this year. Thank you to all our loyal customers for your continued support!
So with that said, what about next year. Mulberry Lane is not going to close, but we will be scaling back major league! Our faithful helpers are growing up and moving on to bigger brighter things which leaves Grandpa Lee and myself. So next year we will only be raising a large family garden. If we have excess produce we will gladly share, and as always we do still sell eggs!

We are going to be open today from 2-4ish. We have slicing cucumbers, zucchini, beans and a few banana peppers available.

We’ve had a few inquiries as to when we’re going to open this year. That’s a million dollar question. I like to start planting cool weather crops like onions, lettuce, radishes, cabbage and peas mid April or so. This year weather didn’t cooperate. End of April I got sick and spent a couple days in the hospital, that set us back a bit too as when you get to be older than dirt you don’t bounce back real quick! Hubby has been having severe arthritic flare up so he runs the watering system and does the mowing. Had both my grandsons helping with the planting, but slow process this year. In spite of all the watering we are horribly dry. Those past two rains we had were such a blessing. We had almost no strawberries this year and they got a lot of water. Raspberries were few and far between, most plants didn’t even bloom. Our plum trees bloomed so pretty and we have zero plums on the trees, same for cherries! Ducks have destroyed our lettuce and then moved to cabbage which now has hoops over it to keep ducks away! We’ll see how many make it! Beans are just starting to produce a few. I didn’t plant as many so not sure how many will be available for sale. Beets are a bit spotty and way too tiny yet. Carrots will be very late what there is of them, they didn’t come up real good. For those interested in baby corn, it is not looking the best this year. It should be tasseled by now and isn’t. We’ll just have to wait it out. Tomatoes and peppers look awesome and are loaded but nothing ready yet. I pulled garlic and that is drying. Will only have limited amount to sell. We just picked our first few cucumbers yesterday. Hopefully will have some nice slicers by end of next week. Onions were late going in so won’t be pulling them for another 2-3 weeks. With all that in mind I will post when I have picked enough to sell. Any questions feel free to message me or call605-864-0267 and leave a message. I will call you back. Have a great day!

We are making more work by laying the fabric, but where we used it last year it was fantastic! So planting has gone slower but end result is way fewer weeds to contend with. Picture shows about 60 plants set out few days ago. Add two more rows of fence to that. We are only digging ground as we go as ground is so horribly dry! Hopefully our soaker hoses will deliver enough water!

Planting is in full swing! Garlic is looking awesome. Gramps and I are slowing down and dealing with some health issues so progress is slow, but we still have youngest two grandsons helping and believe me they work wonders!

Good morning! Looks like a pretty good frost here. We picked about 5 bushels tomatoes yesterday, mostly green. Our tomatoes have been so loaded with nice big ones and even with all the pruning just very slow to turn. You know me, just couldn’t let all those big tomatoes freeze, so they are in the shed. Hopefully most will ripen and those of you still needing them can get them! We have a few pumpkins and some squash too. Things are winding down for the season. Have a great day!

We put on our mud boots and went to garden today. What a wonderful rain we had, but my is it wet out there! Have decided not to open market shed today. Pretty much everything we picked is already spoken for. We finally got a decent amount of beans! We have lots of orders for beans, so if you are on the list be patient we will get to you!
We went to our neighbors the other day and picked aronia berries. Oh my are those bushes loaded! They make wonderful juice and jelly! If anyone is interested message me and I will hook you up!
Our blackberries are really loaded this year. They are starting to turn, got whole 6 berries this morning! But that will change and hopefully we will have some to share!
Plums are turning too! They aren’t super big, but make good plum jam or mix with apples and make plum apple butter! Message me and we can arrange for you to pick! I took couple pictures so will try to get them on here!
Next picking day is Tuesday. Hope to be open Tuesday afternoon!
Have a great weekend!
