Harvest timing is a daily balancing act. As the season winds down, we are out in the vineyard tracking sugar accumulation and sampling fruit to evaluate flavor development across every varietal.

The moment a block hits that ideal balance of sugar, acid, and flavor, we flip to harvesting. Catching each variety at its exact peak is what turns good grapes into great estate wine.

Someone cut our grapes!

Don't panic, it's a good thing. During veraison, we step in to drop any lagging green clusters so the vine stops wasting energy on fruit that won't make the cut. By trimming back now, we ensure the grapes left on the vine get everything they need to reach perfect ripeness.

Veraison is under way! It's the time of year when the grapes turn color, soften, and begin accumulating sugars. Since our varieties develop on their own timelines, you can look across the vineyard right now and see different blocks at completely different stages of the process.

It is one of the most exciting transformations of the season, signaling harvest is right around the corner.
