Fresh rhubarb is sold annually during the pick-your-own harvest, normally the first weekend in June. We will gladly pick rhubarb for the handicapped. There is no charge for admission and no need for an appointment on harvest weekend. You pay only for what you decide to buy. Check the weather and you...

The 2022 public harvest was held June 11-12. We were picked to the ground and sold all rhubarb plants. There are a few horseradish plants left, $15 each. Before buying/planting them, please check out https://highaltituderhubarb.com/home-v2/horseradish/ It is an invasive plant and you are well advised to be circumspect in choosing a site for planting. Many people put it in very large containers rather than in the ground. Email me if you have any questions or wish to get some plants.
Thanks

I seem to have been posting updates to the farm at another webpage...my personal page, perhaps. I plead innocent but sorry if that is the case. I'm actually an expert in computer/human interfaces and could not have done a worse job than Facebook if doing the worst possible job was my goal. An interface first designed by people with an aptitude for computers but not training or sophistication or knowledge and now modified like a cancer to sell stuff and make money. Sheesh. Regardless, I'll try to do better in future. Next posts are an update on this year's harvest. I did post announcements of the harvest and harvest updates but apparently not in the right place.

June harvest potential is good for 2020. We are contemplating how to make the food safely available to you in light of the pandemic. Plans are to offer it at a reduced cost to most and free to health care providers. We aren't wealthy but are old and out of debt so our financial exposure is considerably less than most. I'm thinking about a farm stand, where we have already picked it for you, or staging small groups to pick by appointment. We've always handled commercial picking by appointment (large quantities) and will do that again. Plant sales will be as normal...should help cover our expenses. If you have any suggestions, please email them to me at [email protected]
Hoping you are all safe,
Dennis

The plants are up! We've tentatively set the harvest for Saturday/Sunday June 9-10, 8:00am-2:30pm. We plan a general farmer's market to accompany the public harvest this year. We'd like the booths to emphasize colorado food products, fresh or processed, but additional booths may still be available for crafts. There should be live music and children's entertainment as well. We hope you can join us.

The 2017 harvest is over. Thank you all for another good year. The late winter storms reduced the crop considerably but we were happy to see we did not run out of rhubarb. Hope to see you all again next year.

The 2017 harvest must be postponed.
Uncommonly severe, late spring snows destroyed most of the crop.
It will bounce back...if Mother Nature stops being so mean...
But undoubtedly not to full yield.
Every year is different.
It is too early to reliably predict a harvest date
possibly June 10-11 or 17-18.
Then we are into dangerous hail season...sheesh

Plants are now on sale. We have Victoria, Turkish and Ornamental rhubarb as well as horseradish plants. All are $15 each. See http://www.highaltituderhubarb.com/Pages/varietiesofrhubarb.aspx for pictures and details of the different varieties. Send me email, [email protected], to place an order. You can pick them up at the harvest or at an earlier date of mutual convenience. The first batch of plants are available to pickup at the farm Friday/Saturday, April 29-30, 9am-12. Please contact me first to ensure we have adequate inventory. More will be available soon and we'll schedule other open pickup times or can arrange one that works for you.

The harvest is expected in early June. Will let know when Mother Nature settles the date. Probably June 3-4 or 10-11.

I regret we no longer ship plants to non-Colorado destinations. Fees and overhead are too onerous for a small operation like ours.
We are appreciative of your interest.

Regards,
Dennis
