Just over two weeks until beer festival time! We are on Island 3 this year and we have most of the "B" breweries. Breweries are arranged alphabetically this year instead of by region. I've attached the list of breweries on our island. You can go to the GABF website and see what beers each brewery is bringing if you want to know what we'll be pouring. https://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/festival-breweries/

Team Richmond 2022 a new beginning
Hello,
Well GABF is back this year but in a much smaller capacity. When I say smaller I mean a giant step down.
First though my apologies for being offline. Covid hit bad and godaddy and justhost are not playing well together, I have been unable to get or send email for some time (I didnt even know for a while). With that in mind Im moving to gmail. [email protected] is our new email address!
So what has happened? Well we have been limited to 60 volunteers a night and I am not in control of the schedules carol is running the sign up for the most part. I will still send confirmations but will not be able to move people around. We are only getting one Island too. Usually we sign up between 150 and 200 volunteers per night for what we do so this is a bit of a nightmare for everyone.
From our point of view not making this year does not effect your status as a current volunteer as we assume things will be back to normal next year. So if whats available doesnt work please consider not signing up this year and we will see you next year.
Take care and Ill see you in the pub or festival or in 2023.
Have a great day!
Team Richmond Captains
FYI - We are limited to 60 volunteers per session this year. And we are almost filled up. Your captains are working to get more slots open, or to start a waiting list.
I’ll provide an update as soon as I get it.
Captain Dan Rodriguez
Carol Hiller recently sent emails to all of our 2017-2019 volunteers with details about volunteering this year. Contact Dave MacPhee or me, Dan Rodriguez. Message here or email at [email protected], if you did not receive the email and you want to volunteer this year.
Also, Carol said we cannot add any new volunteers.
Goodbye weekend
Happy International Beer Day 🍻
I wish I could find a great IPA (GABF medal winner) at a great brewery (maybe small brewery of the year?). Done. Happy IPA Day!
Dan Richmond

Below please find information from the Brewers Association regarding this year’s Craft Brewers Conference and Great American Beer Festival. I will send additional GABF details as they become available, but please know that there will be opportunities to participate at CBC. If possible, please put those dates on your calendar and write back with any questions you may have.
Many thanks and cheers!

The Craft Brewers Conference Will Return to Denver This Fall!
We’re pleased to announce that the 38th edition of the Craft Brewers Conference & Brew Expo America® (CBC), presented by the Brewers Association, will return to Denver, September 9-12, 2021.
The premier conference and trade show for the craft brewing industry was originally scheduled to take place in San Diego, March 29-April 1, 2021, but has been rescheduled due to the ongoing pandemic. Please cancel your plans for San Diego, and save the date for Denver. Shifting to September in Denver provides us with an opportunity to convene in person, making it possible to do what brewers do best—build community and learn from each other. Final confirmation of the in-person event remains dependent on health and safety protocols at the time of the conference. If an in-person event is not possible due to COVID-19 related concerns, the conference will move online.
Registration for attendees and media is anticipated to open in April 2021.
In addition to the rescheduling of CBC, the Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) competition and awards ceremony, historically held in Denver, will also shift, with the awards announced during CBC on September 10. Details for the festival portion of GABF remain under review.
We hope to see you in Denver this fall!

Timeline photos
It’s said that hindsight vision is always 20/20. So in the spirit of 2020, we’ll be looking back throughout the year on some classic, important and sometimes LITERALLY groundbreaking moments in Stone history. Moments like this, 24 years ago, when two guys by the names of Greg Koch ( on Instagram) and Steve Wagner (you can reach him by fax) got the keys to this non-descript warehouse on Mata Way in San Marcos, California.
They were 5 months, 26 days and a lot of sleepless nights away from releasing their first keg of beer. They were – and still are – an ambitious duo, but even they couldn’t imagine what Stone would grow to become. So we’ll be posting throwback moments like this all year long, and since all of our success is thanks to fans like you, we’d love it if you shared your old photos/videos with us too. Maybe they’re from that Mata Way brewery in the 90s. Maybe they’re from the opening week at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Escondido or one of our Anniversary Celebrations.
If you’ve supported us over the years, the history of Stone is as much yours as it is ours. So post your pictures/videos with hashtag and we’ll be sharing a few of our favorites. Cheers to the past 23 years and to making our 24th the finest one yet!”

As Denver's Great American Beer Festival turns 37, we talk to Boulder Beer Company about the festival's continued relevance in craft beer.
Well, well, look what is on the calendar for today. Shift 1 of 4 at the Colorado Convention Center for the Great American Beer Festival (37th addition).
We are about to embark on 4,000 beers poured (nearly 8,500 entered in the competition) from 800 breweries (2,400+ entered in the competition).
Jucy or Hazy IPA was the most popular category last year with 391 entries.
If you are pouring this weekend for Team Richmond (THE best team), then you are one of nearly 4,400 volunteers, and combined, we will work more than 68,000 hours at the fest.
Cheers!

Fashion planning update . . .We will be in Black lettering and Grey shirts. Accessorize accordingly.
Here are a few things to remember at this years event:
This year everyone gets glasses! We will get ours on Friday.
On thursday, save your cup so you dont break your glass one!
There should be a bucket at the end of the isle to put you plastic cup in if you dont want it.
The GABF is becoming less tolerant of missing shifts, missing one could get you blacklisted! Please let us know if you cant make a shift!
Bring a water bottle! You can refill it at the water coolers at the end of the isles.
The “Volunteer Check-in” location can be found by following the big bright signs taped all around the Convention Center that say “Volunteer Check-In.”
Please show up at least 45 minutes prior to event start times to check-in.
Remember to bring your ID as ages will be checked.
Once you check-in at the volunteer desk and get wrist banded, you’ll need to then check-in with our team. Look for the “Team Richmond” sign.
Once you check-in with our team, we’ll es**rt you up to our island to prep it to serve beer.
During the time before the event starts, you may not leave the island and walk around for any reason.
Volunteers must stay behind the island for the first 30 minutes of the event. Also, as the event winds down, we’ll need all volunteers to be back behind the island for the last 30 minutes of the event.
Your volunteer shirt is your uniform and you’ll receive it when you check-in for your first shift. You must wear it at all times while at the GABF.
If you have volunteered in the past, please do not bring a prior year’s shirt as this year’s is a different color.
Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing. You will be standing and walking for several hours around beer and may get some on you.
Please do not bring anything of value. There are no secure places to store anything.
No Bags! There are limited lockers on in the Convention Center and bags are not allowed on the floor.
Food will be available for purchase at the Convention Center. If you are working both shifts on Saturday, you should get a Super cool (Hyatt) complimentary lunch from the GABF.
When taking someone’s cup to pour do not put your hands on the lip of their cup.
Try not to put the rim of the pitcher to the glass
Please pour to the one ounce pour line on the tasting cups.
Most importantly, we want you to have fun and socialize with everyone!
Remember your pretzel necklace.
We assign brewer based on who we take up first. If you are late you get whats left, please talk to the captains if you have a preferred brewer.
I will send emails the nigh before your shift and at the bottom of this email is a timeline I stole from another team.
Lunch tickets are first come first served (You have to work all day saturday to get one)
There will be targets on the tables for you to place the glass on and pour into (Do not touch the lip if you can).
