Hippogriff Farms

Hippogriff Farms What started as a goat dairy and vegetable farm in Georgia has moved and changed to a growing Apiary! I supply honey and other bee produced products.

What started out as looking to purchase a property where we could keep our horses, has turned into new passion in life. Hippogriff Farms is a budding goat dairy that focuses on triple registered Nigerian Dwarf goats. All of our goats are registered with the ADGA, The AGS, and the NDGA. While at this point we don't have goats we have opened a small apiary and intend to grow annually to expand the enterprises.

Well the swarm left. Thought i had got the queen but rookie mistakes were involved...
Live and learn. The other hives are all split so with any luck it wont happen again. Luckily its fairly early in the season and the mother hive should catch back up fairly fast. 🐝🐝🐝🐝

Here are my bees in a tree. I have a swarm trap set up. Fingers crossed they choose it.

Started my first Demaree split today. Couldn't find the queen so I manipulated all the frames where they need to bee. Shook them all to the bottom box. Installed a queen excluded between the two brood boxes. Ill let them settle in tonight and disperse properly. Then finish the process tomorrow. I have read great things about this particular manipulation and am excited to see the results

Needed a few new hive stands and so did Ben. These would cost $60 new plus shipping. $65 worth of lumber and some "labor" and we got 5 of them. Nothing better than time with a good friend, owning the right tools and having the know how!

Did the first detailed hive inspections of the year. Things look good but swarm season is right around the corner. I will be doing weekly inspections from here through the end of swarm season. Splits coming soon

Added empty honey supers to the hives today. They have been very active for weeks so I figured drawing comb would give them something to do
