We waved the white flag for the 2026 Season! This was the first time the sugarhouse had made Syrup since the early 2000’s and everything went as smoothly as it could’ve. Late nights and many good memories made. In total we made about 260 Gallons of Syrup. Time to start the clean up process and pull taps. Already looking forward to next season!

Boil #12 of the season: This is the 3rd Sap Tsunami we have had this season! When it rains it pours! We processed around 2,500 gallons of sap yesterday. We made some of the nicest colored best tasting syrup of the season so far, I might sound like a broken record but it seems to be getting better and better each Boil, maybe I’ve just had too many samples! I also can’t get over how good this syrup looks in glass🍁

We had our Biggest Boil of the year yesterday! We made 45 gallons of beautiful Syrup, it sure does look pretty in glass!...

Sugarhouse update: We were able to scrape up enough sap to start up the rig for a test Boil the other day and “Sweeten the pans”. Huge thanks to Marshall Dix for coming to help with our first boil. It was so helpful to have someone knowledgeable to help us set everything up and get it running right!

Day 2 Tapping update. Had to Make a small repair on the Dry conductor line from a tree that fell and pulled a coupling out, but turned out to be a pretty easy fix. Tapped the little extension project I did over the summer above the main woods. 170 drilled today, nice temperature and no wind, nice calm day. Starting the other woods tomorrow in hopes to beat any of the weather toward the end of the week and into the weekend, stay tuned!

Day 1 of Tapping is in the books. We were able to get the first 375 holes punched for the 2026 season. Ideal conditions today, hovered right around freezing for most of the day and as sunny and calm as you could ask for a mid February day. We like to tap at or below freezing to keep bacteria levels low, and allow the spout to get an airtight seal before the sap starts coming out during the next thaw. Huge thanks to my brother in law Riley for going out ahead and putting new spouts on. More to come tomorrow!
