Monmouth County Homebrewers Association is proud to be a registered member of the American Homebrewers Association. MCHA is organized and run by long time Homebrewer, The Screwy Brewer. Our meetings are held on the last Monday of every month, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Jughandle Brewing Co. located at 4043 NJ-33, Tinton Falls, NJ.

September Meeting Recap
Thirteen MCHA members gathered at Twin Lights Brewing on Monday, September 28 for our September meeting.
The biggest news of the night was an exciting opportunity with Triumph Brewing in Red Bank. President Kevin reported back on his conversation with his contact there, and the plan is for MCHA to hold a future meeting at Triumph. The visit will include a tour of the brewery and a discussion of a possible wort share.
The idea is for Triumph to brew a batch of b**r and provide current MCHA members with five gallons of wort to take home. Members would then ferment the wort with the yeast of their choice and add any additional ingredients they wanted. Once the b**rs are finished, we would bring them back to Triumph for a group tasting.
We also got into the fall spirit with a tasting of six Oktoberfest b**rs before diving into a 16-b**r homebrew tasting.
The homebrew lineup included Oktoberfests and Märzens, a Kellerbier, West Coast Pilsner, Hazy IPA, Saison, Abbey, Fruited Light L***r, Kviek Pils, Cucumber Kölsch, and Tom B's 9.9% Imperial Cream Ale.
Another great night of brewing, tasting, and sharing ideas with fellow homebrewers.

Whether you’ve been brewing for years, just brewed your first batch, or you’re simply curious about homebrewing, come hang out with us. Our meetings are a great way to taste some interesting b**rs, talk brewing, share ideas, and meet other local homebrewers.

Big thanks to family owned and operated Rabbit Hill Farms for giving us a tour of your malthouse yesterday. The MCHA along with the Ocean County Home Brewers were welcomed in and given an amazing tour of this maltster in New Jersey.
We geeked out with Hillary and Blair about the award-wining malt they make for brewers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and beyond.

AUGUST MCHA MEETING RECAP
The Monmouth County Homebrewers Association met at Twin Lights Brewing for our August meeting, with brewing competitions taking center stage.
Members shared experiences from past competitions, including events with the Ocean County Homebrewers. One of the biggest takeaways was the value of constructive feedback from judges and fellow brewers.
Erik M. brought three b**rs that had previously been entered into competitions and shared their results with the group before tasting them. Erik D. also shared a spreadsheet documenting 27 competition entries, which led to a discussion about the challenges of safely shipping b**r.
For those who ship entries, Erik uses Whale Pods to help protect bottles during transit. The club also discussed the possibility of purchasing Whale Pods for members to use for future competitions.
We also talked about the upcoming Rabbit Hill Malting visit on September 12, annual dues, and possible future meeting topics. Yeast harvesting was suggested as a topic for a future meeting.
The evening wrapped up with a tasting of 10 homebrews, including an Oktoberfest, several IPAs, a German Pils, Brown Ales, a sour, and a gluten-free IPA.

July 2026 Meeting Recap – MCHA
July was a busy month for the Monmouth County Homebrewers Association, with 9 members and 2 prospective members joining us at Twin Lights Brewing.
The evening started with a major milestone for our club: members picked up and divided a massive bulk grain order totaling 770 pounds of malt. A huge thank you to Mike and Kevin for coordinating the effort.
We also talked about some exciting opportunities ahead. Kevin met with the team at Triumph Brewing in Red Bank, who are interested in potentially hosting a wort share competition with the club. The concept would have the brewery produce a batch of wort that participating homebrewers could take home and turn into their own b**r using their choice of yeast, hops, and adjuncts. The finished b**rs could then return to Triumph for judging. More details may develop for later this year.
The club is also joining the Ocean County Homebrewers for a September 12 visit to Rabbit Hill Malt Farm in Cumberland County.
And there’s a summer social coming up! Erik D. has generously offered to host MCHA members and their families at his home on Sunday, August 23. Food and drinks will be provided.
The main event of the evening was finally tasting the b**rs from our Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone Project.
Seven members brewed the same recipe using the same ingredients, but the results showed some interesting differences. Mash temperatures, fermentation schedules, yeast selection, and brewing equipment can all have an impact on the finished b**r.
The tasting included seven Sierra Nevada clones plus seven additional homebrews — 14 b**rs total, tying the club record for the most homebrews shared at a meeting.

June Meeting Recap
Thanks to everyone who came out Monday night. We had 9 members plus a prospective member, and it turned into one of our biggest tasting nights yet.
The discussion on adding fruit to b**r generated a lot of good conversation. Members shared experiences using fresh fruit, extracts, concentrates, tinctures, and talked about when additions work best during the brewing process.
Welcome to Eric, who joined us for his first meeting. He brought homegrown hops to share and got us talking about hop harvest season. Erik also shared a great handout from a recent conference and suggested organizing a visit to Rabbit Hill Malt House with the Ocean County Homebrewers.
We also finalized the bulk grain order for the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale project, so keep an eye out for updates.
The highlight of the night was the tasting. Fourteen homebrews were shared, tying the club record.
Thanks to everyone who brought b**r, participated in the discussion, and made it another excellent meeting.

May 2026 Meeting Recap – MCHA
The Monmouth County Homebrewers Association met on May 18 at Twin Lights Brewing in Tinton Falls. The meeting was moved up one week due to Memorial Day weekend.
With no formal topic scheduled, the night turned into a relaxed but productive discussion covering a range of brewing topics.
President Kevin coordinated details for the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone Project, with participating members planning to meet for ingredient distribution ahead of the July tasting.
Members also discussed different methods for adding sugar during the brewing process, including additions during the boil, while transferring wort, and during active fermentation.
Another upcoming highlight: one member mentioned plans to bring in homemade w**es from several vintages for future tastings.
The night wrapped up with seven homebrews shared, including a Belgian Dubbel, multiple IPAs, a Dunkelweizen, Belgian Hybrid, and even a homemade grape juice w**e.
