Jubilee Regional Morgan Horse Show

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR YOUR JUBILEE PREPARATIONS:
The State of Illinois has special health paper requirements which were inadvertently left out of the prize list for this year. Here is the information you will need:
All Illinois horses more than 12 months of age are required to have a negative Coggins test for EIA within the last 12 months.
All out-of-state horses more than 12 months of age must have
a negative test for EIA within the past 12 months and be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection or
Health Certificate issued within the past 30 days. Foals by their dam’s side do not need a Coggins, however, their dam
must have a valid Coggins test. The Jubilee Regional
Championship Horse Show is not required to check for testing. NOTE: The State of Illinois
requires that all out-of-state horses have an Entry Permit Number (See below).
ENTRY PERMIT NUMBER REQUIRED FOR EQUINE ENTERING ILLINOIS
Effective February 1, 2004, all equine entering Illinois (for any reason other than slaughter) must be accompanied by a negative
test for EIA conducted within a year if the animal is more
than one year of age, certificate of veterinary inspection (health certificate) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days
of entry, and an entry permit number issued by the Illinois
Department of Agriculture. This new requirement comes on the heels of the Monkey Pox and Mad Cow reports and is part of a nationwide attempt to track the movement of livestock, including
horses, throughout the country.
Entry permit numbers are available by calling the Illinois Department of Agriculture,
217-782-4944 and are issued 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Permit numbers are also available online at ww.agr.state.il.us. A password to access the permit program is required and
will be issued to veterinarians by calling the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Health, 217-782-4944 weekdays, 8:00am-4:30pm. The following information will be required for
the entry permit number:
• Name and mailing address of the owner of the animal;
• Date of the EIA test;
• Location where the animal is going.

THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR OBTAINING AN ENTRY PERMIT NUMBER FROM THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
Please note: A certificate of veterinary inspection and entry permit are not required for equine
residing in Illinois full time. Illinois equine traveling out-of-state on an Illinois Certificate ofveterinary inspection are not required
to obtain a permit to return home. Exception: if an Illinois
equine is out-of-state longer than 30 days, a certificate of veterinary inspection issued by the
state where the animal was residing and an entry permit will be required, as that animal is no
longer recognized as being an Illinois native animal.
For equine only: The entry permit number is good for 30 days (the life of the health certificate).
It is requested that if the health certificate is used for multiple entries (i.e. county fair racing, trail
rides, shows on several weekends, etc.) that all events during the 30 day period be included on
the health certificate. If an event is not listed on the health certificate, the owner is asked to call
the Department, provide the permit number and provide the location of the additional event(s). We
recognize that this may be a hardship on those racing at the county fairs and would suggest you
include on the health certificate any and all fairs that you might enter during that period of time.
In accordance with the Illinois Diseased Animals Act (510 ILCS 50/1 and the regulations
pertaining thereto 8 III. Adm. Code 85), violators of the permit number requirement are guilty of a
business offense and shall be fined not less than $50 nor more than $1000. Violators of the EIA
test and certificate of veterinary inspection requirements (health certificate) are subject to a $300
fine for the first violation, a $600 fine for the second violation, and a $1000 fine for the third and
subsequent violations. Animal Health Investigators will check for proper permits and certification.
Illinois State Police also have the authority to ask for proper documentation.
If you have questions, please contact: Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of
Animal Health, Administrative Building, State Fairgrounds, Springfield, IL 62794-9281; or
call: 217-782-4944; TDD 217-524-6858; FAX 217-524-7702

The Grand National is still on track and entries are due while we are away at Buckeye.😳 Please let me know who of our customers would like to go!

Plans continue to move forward for the 2020 Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show®. Here is an overview of what to expect during the show.

ENTRIES
Entries must be postmarked by August 11, 2020 or received by August 18, 2020.

o If for unforeseen circumstances the show is canceled, all fees will be refunded.

o After the close of entries, if there is any government mandate related to COVID-19 that prohibits travel for an exhibitor, entry fees will be refunded minus the office fee.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
The health and safety of our exhibitors is our number one priority.
We will follow USEF, JLC COVID-19 guidelines, as well as state and county regulations. We encourage you to review all guidelines so you are familiar with them, including the items listed below:

o Masks or face coverings are required except while riding or with a USEF modification.

o Wash hands frequently.

o Maintain social distancing.

o Self-monitor temperature daily.

o Every person attending the show must sign the USEF waiver and wear a designated wristband for the duration of the show.

o Limit number of people in practice rings and warm up rings.

o Have hand sanitizer, masks and gloves available for yourself, clients and employees.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 As of July 23, 2020, the state of Oklahoma will require health certificates to be dated within 5 days of attending the show for both in state and out of state horses.

 You will need an appointment to check in at the Show Office. Appointments will be scheduled online. More information for check in will be posted in September.

 Sign up for text alerts to receive daily show and class information.

 Box seating will be different this year for the health and safety of our exhibitors. Seats will be arranged by family/barn family with social distancing requirements in place. We will need to skip rows and seats to accomplish this. We will utilize seats above the main concourse in the Coliseum to maintain safe and healthy distancing to comply with the USEF guidelines and fairground regulations.

 While large parties and social gatherings will not be possible this year, we will be able to host several socially distant events including the Dog Show/ Stick Horse competition and the Costume class. Stay tuned for additional events!

We will keep you updated as we move closer to show time. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Who knew?

Who knew?

Elvis Presly had around 20 horses during his lifetime. He bought horses for his friends and bodyguards, It didn't matter if they wanted one or not, they were getting a horse!
Elvis got into horses like he got into everything; he eased into it right over the top. Elvis cared deeply after his horses.
After a hard ride, Elvis would walk his horse three times longer than necessary to cool him out, just to be sure the horse was safe to return to pasture. He was fastidious about the barn area, and personally marked each person's tack hook and stall … Daddy's, Priscilla's, Mine… The labels remain in the barn to this day.

One of his favourite breeds was Tennessee Walking horse. The last horse he purchased, passed away in 2005 at the age of 32 years old, a Tannessee Walking stallion named Ebony's Double purchased in 1975. While, one of his horses, Mare Ingram lived to the age of 50!

His personal mount was a Rising Sun, a big, beautiful palomino Quarter Horse.

Sometimes Elvis would ride down to the gates of Graceland and show off for his fans, sit and chat from the saddle, and sign autographs. Then to their gasping admiration, he'd take off on Rising Sun at a dead gallop back towards the barn. Elvis was so attached to Bear, a Tennessee Walking Horse, that when the horse died while Elvis was on tour, no one would tell him until he got home, fearing how the news would devastate him.

We had a wonderful time at our first show of the year! Hats off and thanks to the Bonnie Blue officials for hosting a safe and well run horse show for all of us to attend. The Virginia Horse Center and the town of Lexington, VA was so welcoming as we all rushed in just after their re-opening. It was a very competitive show and we all enjoyed the competition and time that we had together. We hope to be back next year in May!

It looks like show season could get started in June! If you haven’t found your show partner, check out Stoney Point Bogart. He is beautiful in harness or under saddle and would be suitable for an amateur or junior exhibitor. Bogie has a huge personality and would love to have his very own person to adventure with in and out of the ring. Let us know if you are looking!
