Customer success is vital to this business, there's no denying that but at the heart of our mission is customer growth both in the showring and in the pasture .
Many ask how we first got connected with the Dorcey family in Nebraska. Well, it all started when Brook and Jess Nighswonger lived in Nebraska and they had met this young, hungry family that was just getting started towards growing a breeding program that their kids could call their own. In the fall of 2021, Brook and Jess were back in Colorado visiting family and stopped in at the Baty Ranch to look for some show heifers that could propel the Dorcey crew to the next level and become a foundation of their herd. The greener built heifer that was picked out of the sale lineup that year wasn't a sale highlight or even in the upper half of the sale bids but there was growth potential in her kind.
Fast forward to that summer, the heifer later referred to as Champagne got her first big win at the 2022 Cornhusker Showdown then went on to be Reserve Supreme in the Nebraska State Fair Open and the Junior Open shows as well as reserve division at NWSS to end her career. That summer served as a launching pad for the Dorcey's that they continued to expand on over the coming years with their most recent accomplishments being exhibiting the 11th and 15th overall bred and owned purebred heifers at junior nationals this past summer in Madison. We've greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with the Dorcey's and help their kids reach their goals throughout the years and we hope this can be a testament to what we believe this project is all about...helping others grow into their goals.
With that in mind, part of our offering stems back to the two cornerstones of the Dorcey program, Champagne and Cayenne. Lot 11 is a 3/4 Rebel x Champagne and Lot 8 is a full sister to the reds Tateum and Oaklie exhibited in Madison. Both heifers show a lot of the same qualities to only get better with time and commitment to the process.
