Drying off the girls means the countdown to kidding season begins. We’ve got three more confirmations to do and then breeding announcements will be posted!
I’m taking advantage of the cooler mornings by shoveling and spreading woodchips to cover the soil and kill off any of the grasses and weeds that have grown in the kid pen. Letting this area rest for a few months so it’s clean and ready for bouncing baby goats at the end of the December. Minimizing contact to existing p**p, dirt, and grasses will hopefully minimize intestinal parasite activity and coccidiosis, and maximize growth potential.
We’ve also started clear cutting another acre of our property to open up the canopy. Hoping to turn that acre into another pasture.
