Fleur hit the 4 lb mark today!!! She’s looking great and now I’m cheering on her little sister, Fatima, who is 3.7 lbs. 💞

Baby Fatima and Baby Fleur are finally looking better! Instead of 1.5 and 2.2 lbs, they are 3.6 and 3.7 lbs at 3 weeks old. Maybe, next week, they will be strong enough to be disbudded. Grow little girls! 🙏🏻💞

Baby Fleur update: she is a bit better today…. Here’s her recap:
5-21 born
5-23 2.2 lbs active and healthy
5-27 snotty nose
5-30 2.5 lbs, rattly chest, taken to vet for Draxxin
6-4 2.8 lbs… still weak and stumbling… back to vet and they added meloxicam daily…. Friend suggested Nuflor so I also dosed her with that at home
6-6 2.95 lbs, resp rate=74, bad lung crackles
6-7 3.1 lbs, resp rate=60, slightly less lung crackles
6-8 3.38 lbs, much less crackles

Our little baby is not out of the woods. She’s 18 days old. Birth weight 2.2 lbs and she’s just up to 3.2 lbs today. She’s had Draxxin, Nuflor, and banamine to treat her pneumonia and making slow progress towards recovery. Her respiratory rate was 74 yesterday and 62 today. Neama is very attentive to her tiny house guest and I think Fleur likes her too. 💞

So many people have told us in the last couple of years that Dennis should try acupuncture to cure his alpha gal. He finally figured, "Why not try?" so he went to a doctor in Jefferson City who specializes in it. For 10 years, now, Dennis has not been able to eat pork and I've had to epi-pen him twice when he accidentally ate food that had pork in it. Well, guess what? Since Wednesday, he's been trying small bites of pork and beef (epi-pen close by!) and he's had NO SYMPTOMS of the alpha-gal. It does seem too good to be true and I don't really know how or why it works- but, I thought I'd share his experience with others who might want to try it.

Fleur was weak and stumbling this morning so I ran her back to the vet. They said the Draxxin needs a little more time to work so they dosed her with banamine again. Dennis made sure she ate frequently today and she was more energetic tonight. We aren’t out of the woods yet but I keep praying that Baby Fatima and Fleur get stronger.

I took my two tiny girls to the vet tonight for antibiotics. I’ve had some crazy upper respiratory illness running through my doe pens and the tiny girls have picked it up. They are 11 days old and I think their weight gain could be better too (both are 2.5 lbs). So, they now have Draxxin and NSAIDS onboard. We will supplement them with bottles and pray that these precious babies start growing faster.

“Baby Gracie” was born prematurely and spent a couple weeks in our house. She was spoiled and loved but I let her move on because she was a diva. Any time I tried to lead her, she’d basically lay down. When the Tucker family contacted me for a show potential dry yearling, I told them that I had Gracie- beautiful as ever but needed work on being led. Well, they’ve grown her into this beautiful doe, earned her an 89 LA score as a first freshener, and now her first Champion leg! I’m bursting with pride and grateful to the Tucker family at 66 Olds Farm for helping Grace shine. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
