Did you know? Even the slightest bit of weather change (too hot, too cold, too rainy) can affect the hens laying schedule?

I love rainy days but I also know that means egg decline and messy eggs. 🤣

Anyway, I have five dozen eggs available on the farmstand.

All laid between 5/5 and 5/10.

🌟Organic. Corn-Free, Soy Free, Ungraded, Pastured / Free Range

Pic of the inside and outside of one of my olive eggs. It’s a bright blue shell underneath with olive green pigment. This specific egg was laid by my hen Paula, who has a Cream Legbar Mama (blue egg genetics) and Black Copper Marans Daddy (dark brown egg genetics).

Paula is pictured below. She has the body frame, comb and crest of a Cream Legbar but feathering coloring of a Black Copper Marans.

Paula is a cranky hot mess. But I love her. 😍

🐔Sweet Dallas watching over his girls while they have a spa day at "Spa de l'arbre au pic". AKA Woodpecker Tree Spa.

NOTE:
We are heading into (almost) full production from the ladies; as many of them are turning from pullet to hen stage and the eggs are getting bigger. I don’t sell the pullet eggs until they get to a to a certain weight, so come mid summer we will be loaded with eggs.

Can you believe it? It’s been almost one full year since losing most of the flock to fox attacks. Crazy how fast time has gone by, but thankful for the time to rebuild.

Please reach out at anytime (via text 615-584-2888) if you need eggs.

Have a blessed day!

🌱Friendly reminder!🌱

Carton prices are high! We are thankful for any cartons that can be returned for re-use. You can place them on the farm-stand at any time.

PLEASE only return cartons in structurally good condition and without raw egg drippings in the individual egg spaces. Cracking eggs and returning the shells to the carton only makes for a messy carton that can’t be reused.

It was a habit I used to have before having my own flock and experiencing how expensive egg cartons are.

All monies collected from egg sales go right back into helping pay for feed, supplements, bedding and chicken housing upkeep for the free range flock. Keeping costs down helps us to continue doing what we are doing.

We do not make a profit from the sale of our pastured eating eggs. But we are thankful and honored to be able to offer them to you. ❤️

Thank you all for your business and support of our little homestead.

Have a blessed Sunday my friends!

Meet “Smalls”.

He is one of my free range flock BCM Roos that we have kept around because it just worked out in his favor. Him and his brother “Biggie” came to our homestead as tiny little day old cockerels just after we lost majority of our flock last summer. They were my only options left as far as a BCM goes, so they got to stay.

I never put much thought into their names because I just couldn’t come up with anything clever. So, “Biggie” with the big comb and “Smalls” with the small comb just stuck. Unintentionally of course but now I can’t call them anything else. It just stuck.🤣

Anyway, Smalls does not have the correct color legs nor eyes, and his comb is so so so tiny, but his body is massive and he’s a great protector and peace maker while free ranging.

His brother Biggie is now the sire of my temporary BCM breeding group; I pulled the BCM hens from the Olive Egger project for now, while I build up my purebred BCM’s… I desperately need them for new F1 flocks and backcrossing come the fall. Time is of the essence! 🥴

So much intentionality is going into my breeding projects; I’m always learning and trying to improve what I already have.

I’ll post more updates about my breeding projects here soon! 💕

Super excited about the egg color coming from my BBS (Blue/Black/Splash) Ameraucana’s.

The Ameraucana egg is light, (closer to a robin egg blue), but deeper than my Whiting True Blues, who have more of a powder blue hue.

I currently have a Black Ameraucana Roo covering two Blue Ameraucana Hens.

Can’t wait for the eggs to get big enough to incubate!
