Hi ,friends of the Theta General Store!
We've been on hiatus this summer. Denise and I have been busy, restoring another Maury County architectural treasure, the farm better known as " the Sam Sewell place",down the road,in Water Valley.
Mr Sewell was well known, both in Theta, because he operated the old store for a period, and,the farm in Water Valley, he owned and lived in, during the same time.
As an amazing coincidence, I didnt know this, until we bought the store, and were befriended by our neighbor across the road, dear Patricia Fitzgerald, in her 90s, granddaughter of Sam, daughter of Sams son Clint,who also operated the store.
Patricia, until her passing, was our hero, the best of the best, and we still miss her.
We were honored to receive the Nathan Vaught preservation award from the Maury County Historical Society, a couple years back.
We have, even more, been honored to serve our community.. So much fun.
We will be entering a new period, now. Our abilities to restore, and maintain these wonderful buildings, the store, our farm, also, the good old Bank of Santa Fe, my first crazy, endless, continuing restoration project, that I have coaxed slowly forward two steps back, one step forward for around 30 years or so, are limited, and, we aint gettin' any younger!
These buildings are at the heart and soul of our beautiful Maury County, to Denise and myself. We , as we are able, plan to continue our work on all of these marvels.
We would like to again at this point, reach out, and offer our prize winning historic Theta General Store as a venue to host your special gatherings. We will be booking only a few, before, or during the holidays, so please, shoot us a message if you would like to host your one of a kind event in a one of a kind, historic landmark. A special invite,to those friends of the store, who have family and old business connections to the store. It seems like everybody has a story, and we are always thrilled to see a new / old photo, or hear a good yarn from the old days.
