CJEJ Farm is a diversified livestock operation located at 98 US Route 3 in Columbia, NH. It all started when Chris and Joyce Brady got married in 1992. Chris brought knowledge of crops, dairy farming and draft horses and Joyce brought experience butchering, raising beef cattle and poultry. In 2000 the farm started doing custom cropping and haying. As the hay business expanded and the beef herd grew, we no longer needed the stress of harvesting other people's crops. The custom butchering business increased and talk of expanding the farm was an every day discussion. With the expanding local food movement and the hope to pass on a successful farm to the next generation, ground was broke in mid august of 2014. The plan was a 40 x 80 foot building that houses a state approved processing facility and a farm shop. With the new store front we are currently selling eggs, cuts of beef, pork, chicken and turkeys. As demand increases, so will our herd sizes and availability of other products. In order to sustain a viable livestock and poultry operation we have reduced feed costs and increased yield by feeding homegrown grain. Through a combination of corn, oats, soybeans, barley and minerals we create a balanced ration for all of our animals (depending on the stages of life they are in). By using crop rotation we are varying successive crops on the same ground to avoid depleting the soil and to control weeds, diseases and pests.
