Here at Platinum Livestock we believe in raising more than quality livestock. We believe in raising quality kids. For more than 30 years the Bobby and Jo Rankin have been continually building quality herds of cattle and club lambs. Platinum Livestock exsisted long before the name did. Bobby and Jo have been in the commercial and purebred industries since the 1980’s. They have managed to stay in the business by focusing on quality genetics and excellent customer service. Today, Bobby and Jo as well as their children manage Platinum Livestock. Bobby and Jo instilled a strong work ethic and keen eye for livestock in all their children. Katlyn, Kristopher, Katryna, and Kassie are no strangers to the show ring. We have spent 23 years together raising, breeding, and showing livestock across the nation. We take pride in our quality of livestock but above everything else we take pride in teaching children. We are doing our part to ensure things are left better for those generations yet to come. This is our legacy.

I have been so bad about posting to the farm page. I saw this photo and had to share.

Julien joined to show crew this year and showed lambs. He did so well his first year. He was the Reserve Junior Showman at Boone County Fair.

In this photo you can see his banner and the poster he made to market his lamb in the sale!

Bryan rounded out his time at the Missouri State Fair with the breeding sheep shows. He had shown Betty, his natural ewe, in the wether dam show the previous week. Marge and Eloise had two good outings

Marge, his yearling ewe, was second in the junior show and 8th of 18 in the open.

Eloise was 2nd behind her twin sister in the junior show and 1st in the open.

What a great way to round out the fair! Now onto 2027….we look forward to having another generation of Dorset Advantage babies and maybe even some new ewes to show!

I know I haven’t posted much but I need to share how proud we are of Bryan this week at Missouri State Fair….He participated in the first annual lamb BBQ contest. He had never done any type of food competition but wants to learn more about culinary…..he may have found his niche.

He placed 🥈in lamb burgers, 🥉in lamb chops and 🥉 overall. We were so excited and the top two teams overall were FFA BBQ teams so he had stiff competition

Bobby also prepared a leg of lamb in the adult division. Both he and Bryan’s were good but didn’t make the top three in either division.

It has been quite the busy week. I am so far behind on posting but so proud of B and his ewes at state fair. He’s finished the junior portion and awaits showing in the open show next Wednesday. He achieved 2 seconds and a third in class. Sorry for my poor photography skills. But was fun to see his fall Dorset Advantage stand second to her twin sister and Champion AOB Meat!

Congratulations Madison and to Rapp Show Stock for allowing us to purchase this ewe. We look forward to showing her again next year
