Construction is officially underway! 🚧🛂

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be making significant progress as the existing back pad is completely removed to make way for new development. Once demolition is complete, site grading will begin, followed by the preparation and installation of the concrete foundation. We're excited to see the transformation take shape stay tuned for updates as we move through each milestone!

We would like to welcome Michael Johns QA Manager in Knoxville!

He is a seasoned Certified Welding Inspector with over 20 years of experience in welding, quality control, and inspection across diverse industries, including nuclear power, process piping, structural steel, and pipelines. He has held inspection roles for Vogtle, VC Summers, Columbia Gas Transmission, GSK, Baxter , B Braun Medical, and Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies.

We would like to spotlight Marlena Slatick at our Richland facility.

Marlena has been with AVANTech for 6 years, a year after the 2018 acquisition of MCE in Richland. Marlena is a project specialist currently supporting the AMPS and WARM projects and is responsible for all of the document control and submittals which is no small task, paper for this project comes by the truckload! Marlena is also making sure other project deliverables such as IXC inventory, and accruals happen without fail. Prior to this most recent assignment Marlena handled all of the purchasing and coordination of maintenance for the Richland office. She was and still is the glue that hold the place together. We are fortunate to have Marlena on the team. Thanks for everything you do and for your great smile!

This past week, AVANTech had the privilege of attending two key industry events: the USA Nuclear Generator & Supplier Executive Summit in Nashville, TN, and the NSA RP-ALARA Summer Meeting in Myrtle Beach, SC.

These events provided valuable opportunities to connect with industry leaders, collaborate on emerging challenges, and showcase AVANTech’s innovative solutions in nuclear services and technology. We’re always grateful for the chance to demonstrate how our expertise contributes to safer, more efficient operations across the nuclear sector.

A big thank you to the organizers and all who stopped by to engage with our team — we look forward to continuing the conversation and building on the momentum.

We would like to welcome Rebecca Trotter,

Rebecca recently contributed her talents to the State of Tennessee, where she played a vital role in helping residents navigate and access essential public resources. Prior to that, she devoted several years to raising her family as a full-time mother—an experience that significantly strengthened her skills in organization, multitasking, problem-solving, and time management.

Now, Rebecca brings her dedication and versatility to AVANTech as our Administrative Assistant. In this role, she provides critical support across several key operational areas, including purchasing coordination, managing accounts payable, and assisting with quality assurance documentation. Her proactive approach and attention to detail make her an invaluable part of the team, helping to ensure that our administrative processes run efficiently and effectively.

Daniel is actively promoting our cutting-edge water and waste processing systems, combining deep process engineering expertise with regular client engagement. His strong technical background in nuclear power plant operations enables him to develop innovative, customized solutions that address complex water management challenges. Whether it’s through optimizing designs, enhancing system performance, or building strong relationships within the existing commercial nuclear fleet, Daniel plays a vital role in driving our mission forward.

Last week’s RadWaste Summit provided a valuable opportunity to connect with clients, teaming partners, and friends—all united by a shared commitment to delivering innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for the nuclear industry.

Buddy and Tammy had the chance to learn from a range of insightful sessions and engage with industry leaders.

Notably, Tammy, a member of our Program Development team, also served as a session moderator. The session focused on how our National Labs are using artificial intelligence to predict the behavior of groundwater contaminants and other key factors in environmental remediation including predicting when mercury vapors will be at highest and lowest resulting in the more efficient and safe D&D activities.

The groundbreaking work being done by the National Labs is transforming the way we approach complex environmental challenges and driving greater efficiency in remediation strategies.
