Since 1928, the Danish tradition of candy making has been in the heart of Columbia, California, featuring Gold Rush Candies that are as "Pure as Gold". The Columbia Candy Kitchen has been the home of fine handmade confections in Columbia, California since the late 1800s, when a Danish confectioner settled in this gold rush town. After five generations the

Nelson family still produces the finest candies from those original recipes. Our ingredients are the purest and freshest available, cooked in bright copper kettles and cooled on marble tables that are over 100 years old. Columbia, now a State Historical Park, is filled with history and tradition; like the Nelson family, carrying on a heritage from another time. We make 80-85% of all our confections; those we don't make, we offer the finest available. All three stores carry our wide variety of selections. Peer into the large kitchen area in Columbia, to see candies being made using equipment and techniques from the 1800s. Gold Rush candies, pure as gold.
