How We Got Our Name

The Cyrus Café owners were looking to open a restaurant in the Columbus area. For over a year they looked at locations, entertained the idea of different franchises, as well as restaurants looking to sell, but it just never felt right. But that was all about to change. You see, as they were searching for the right location, they were also looking into adopting a dog. They had visited several shelters and came close a couple of times in adopting. But again, it wasn’t meant to be. Timing just always seemed to be off. That was until they met Cyrus. It was love at first sight. They knew Cyrus was their dog and they like to think that Cyrus knew they were his humans. With that instantaneous connection it was as though all of the puzzle pieces fell into place. The next day they saw one final restaurant location – they had decided that if this last location didn’t speak to them then they would wait and revisit this dream at a later point. But, that dream wasn’t going to be delayed any longer. When they saw the location they had a feeling... When deciding on a name for the café it dawned on them that this new adventure they were embarking on came about after they had met Cyrus. Cyrus … what a wonderful name that not only honors their new best friend, but also is the one word that evokes all of their emotions they had for Cyrus the dog, and the new café as well. So, with that the café became Cyrus Café. When visiting Cyrus Café the owners hope that you feel welcomed and leave feeling like you always have a place to call home …even if it is just for a moment while grabbing a bite to eat. Stop in and say hi and try Cyrus’ namesake, the LORD CYRUS as well as our other sandwiches and soups that inspire that feeling of home!
