Brian is finally home, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude as we count our blessings.

We truly cannot find the words to thank everyone for the love, prayers, messages, meals, and support our family has received over these past three months. Every call, every visit, every kind gesture carried us through the hardest days and reminded us we were never alone.

There were moments of fear and uncertainty, but also moments of strength, faith, and miracles we will never forget. We are so thankful for the doctors, nurses, and medical teams who cared for Brian so tirelessly, and for each and every one of you who lifted us up when we needed it most.

This journey has changed us in ways we are still processing, but one thing is certain—we are incredibly grateful for more time, more memories, and a second chance.

As Brian continues to recover, we are facing ongoing medical expenses and time away from work. If you feel led to help, we have set up a GoFundMe to support his continued healing and our family during this time. Every share, donation, and prayer means more than we can express.

BRIAN UPDATE (3/13): Two steps forward and one step back...we would appreciate your prayers again. Brian was released last Thursday (3/5) after 6 weeks in the ICU. We moved to a handicap accessible extended stay hotel room to begin his rehab. The accessible room was/is extremely helpful in his rehabilitation since he is dependent on a wheelchair and walker to move around. He was able to go outside for the first time since January 22nd.....

Monday (3/9) he was having some leaking from his wound drains so the doctor sent us to the ER. Turns out his abdomen was infected again. So he was admitted back to the ICU. Tuesday, he had a new drain ( #6) placed and a new course of antibiotics was started. Wednesday his kidneys showed signs of stress and it has been worsening since. Waiting on reports from CT scan and ultrasound on steps forward.

We are praying that this is just a minor setback in his recovery. They estimate it may take 3–6 months before he can return to normal activity.

Brian and I are so grateful that our boys, Carter and Daniel, have stepped in to take over the farm and farmers market responsibilities. For the next few weeks we are going to have to modify our Saturday farmers market schedule:

Daniel will be at the Fulshear Farmers Market every Saturday. Carter will alternate between the Memorial Village and Urban Harvest Farmers Markets .... Memorial Village 1st and 3rd Saturday and Urban Harvest on the 2nd and 4th Saturday. Sundays will remain the same.

Our family continues to be overwhelmed by the love and support from family, friends, fellow vendors, customers, and our community. Your prayers, kind messages, meals, and financial support have truly been a blessing.

BRIAN UPDATE (2/22):

Brian remains in the ICU — today marks one full month. He had his 8th surgery this morning. Thankfully, Brian has a strong heart and liver and was in good physical condition before the bowel rupture, which has helped him tremendously in this fight.

Last week, his right kidney was under stress due to fluid buildup in his abdomen. The surgeons placed a stent, and his kidney has been steadily recovering. Today, they added another drain to help further reduce the abdominal fluid.

Other than a few ice chips, Brian has not had anything to eat or drink by mouth since he was admitted. He is receiving all fluids and nutrition through a feeding tube and IV. Yesterday, doctors started another course of antibiotics to prevent a new infection.

His vital signs have remained stable. He gets up into a chair every day, and last week he was even able to walk around the unit with physical therapy. Our hope is that he will continue increasing his activity this week in preparation for being released from the ICU within the next 7–10 days. We’re not yet sure whether he will remain in the hospital or transition to a rehabilitation facility.

The doctors believe he has turned an important corner in his recovery, though there is still a long road ahead. They estimate it may take 3–6 months before he can return to normal activity.
