Hey yall! 👋 Long time, no see!!

It’s almost thanksgiving and we’ve been getting some questions about wreaths… “Are we doing them? When can I get one? Where can I get one?” So here’s the scoop-

December 6th we will once again be joining the folks over at the Unitarian Universalists Congregation for their Holiday Market from 9-3!✨You know the drill- wreaths, swags, and a bunch of delicious cookies in the sanctuary! And other great local makes and wares. Mark your calendars and come on out!

And right after that, we’ll get going on custom orders! Order form will be like years past and will be live soon!!

A note that our offerings might be a bit different than previous years. We don’t have very many grapevine wreath frames in the garage so there won’t be nearly as many of those available. Our dried floral array is limited because we didn’t grow very much to dry. This little venture has fully shifted into “hobby” territory so please bear with us! 🌲🌾

Hi folks! We’ve been a bit quiet over here - in part because that’s the nature of winter on a farm, but also because we had to hash out some big decisions.

First off, we want to thank everyone for all their support during the 2024 season! While not our busiest or grandest year in business, we nonetheless had a wonderful time at the Columbus Farmers Market, Deja Vu Fine Art and Craft Show, and the Unitarian Holiday Market, among others. It was a year of highs and lows, and despite the joy felt we also made many sacrifices and struggled to keep our work-life balance in check.

Like many things in life, change is hard… but you can’t grow without change. As of February 2025, both of us will be working full time. Connor made a career change last spring, and it’s been very rewarding but also left him with little availability for farm work during the season. And Hannah very recently accepted and will soon begin full time at the library! In light of these changes we have made the bittersweet decision to put Backfield Flower Farm on the back burner and not be in flower production or present at the Columbus Farmer’s Market in 2025.

We still have a lot to figure out and ponder as we move into a new chapter, but we are excited for it all. Flowers will always be a part of our lives, but will no longer be one of our (Hannah’s) biggest stressors! That said, we have a garage half-full of dried flowers, don’t write us off for wreaths just yet! We will be figuring it out as we go, but odds are good that you’ll still be able to decorate your door with one of our beautiful wreaths in 2025.

Again, thank you so much to everyone who has supported us and been following along these past few years. If you ever bought flowers, a wreath, a sticker, asked us to do your wedding, shared a post on social media, or just stopped by our stand to say how pretty the flowers were - we love and appreciate you! Hope we all have a great year in 2025 💐🫶✨

✨🎄 Ok y’all, it’s time again for special order evergreen wreaths!! Customize the colors to match your front door or your indoor decor. Every wreath is made with evergreens that surround the farm property and are adorned with dried flowers we grew this season. Truly local holiday decor that’s pretty damn beautiful, if we do say so ourselves! Send us a message if interested in the order form or if you have any questions.

Additionally we want to let you local Columbus folks know that on December 7th we will be participating once again in the UUCCI Holiday Market! We’ll have lots of wreaths and swags there for your choosing! And the cookie walk in the sanctuary…always a hit!! 🍪 So mark your calendars now, 12/7 from 9-3! Event link in bio.

What a great day yesterday was! Thank you all so much for another wonderful Deja Vu show!! To our friends & family and to new & returning customers- your continued support of what we love to do makes it all worth it ❤️

We needed to take a second and showcase some of our favorite grapevine wreaths before they get left in the past during evergreen season. All of these were made by our small and mighty crew of Jan Lucas and Hannah Grimm! Pictured in alternating order are some of Jan and Hannah’s recent works.

Frostmas is coming tonight!! 🌬️❄️🍂 We did our final cuts of eucalyptus and Mexican sage today and got the hoop house all closed up for the chilly evening.

In years past I’ve been saddened by our first frost’s arrival, officially ending the growing season and all of our field grown flowers. This year however, I’m rejoicing! While I’m not looking forward to digging up the dahlias soon, I am happy knowing that this season is behind us and that we can devote more time in the garage making wreaths 😊✨
