Twenty-five years ago, the five of us stood here and cut the ribbon to signify the grand opening of Simmons Winery.

Simmons Winery was first established in 2000 after an Indiana grape shortage sparked the need for native French Amercian hybrid grapes. A background in chemistry, coupled with a lifetime of farming, helped David Simmons and family firmly establish Simmons Winery as a fruitful Indiana business. This was only the beginning.

Growth, whether agricultural or business-related, and some good ole fashioned hard work, has always been at the forefront of the Simmons philosophy. A quick look around the property shows the accomplishments of the last 25 years - Simmons Winery opened in 2000, winery expansion in 2003, a banquet hall built in 2006, building expansion and hard cider introduced in 2008, 450 North Brewing restaurant and brewery established in 2012, new building for 450 North brewery in 2019, 450 North Spirits opened in 2023, a rickhouse for aging bourbon built in 2024 - all the while still holding tightly to our agricultural roots of farming.

This has been far from an easy journey to get here, but we are incredibly proud of the things we’ve grown and produced here in rural Bartholomew county. Thank you, to our customers, for your continued support these past 25 years - we couldn’t do what we love without you.
