👋🏽 Hey Family, Jay Ro here! I just wanted to take a moment to keep it real with yall..💯
🙅🏽♂️ Brown Suga Treats has never been in competition with another bakery, and we never will be.
😅 Comparison is the thief of joy, and honestly, we’re too busy trying to outdo the version of OURSELVES from last week.
👀 Every Sunday, we look back and ask ourselves:
• How can we make our cakes better?
• How can we improve our customer service?
• How can we make ordering easier?
• How can we earn the trust of a few new customers this week?
🙂↕️That’s the ONLY competition.
💯 We’ve been blessed to hear people call us “the best,” and we’re incredibly thankful for those compliments. But titles come and go. Character, consistency, and community are what matter to us.
🥹 If you’ve ever met wife Apryle (the baker & the heart and soul of Brown Suga Treats), you know she’s one of the sweetest, most humble people you’ll ever meet. I’m definitely the more competitive one 😂, but even then, it’s always me vs. me. 🫡
🙂 Behind the scenes, we support a lot of small businesses. We share advice, answer questions, place orders, recommend other businesses when we can’t fulfill a request, and occasionally surprise people with free treats. We don’t post every good deed because our kindness doesn’t need an audience.
We genuinely love seeing other small businesses win, especially home bakers! We know how hard this journey is. Long nights, early mornings, wondering if anyone will order… we’ve been there. 😮💨
🫶🏽 We didn’t build Brown Suga Treats to become millionaires (nor are we close lol). We built it to create something we could be proud of, serve our community, and hopefully make a comfortable life doing what we love. There’s enough room for all of us to succeed.
🫢 So if you ever hear that we’re competing with another bakery, know this: that’s never been our mindset, and never will.
When another business succeeds, it doesn’t take anything away from us. Success isn’t like cake (see what i did there? 🤣).. someone else getting a slice of success doesn’t mean there’s less for you.
Our only mission is simple:
1. Be better than yesterday.
2. Serve people well.
3. Stay humble.
4. Keep baking.
5. Keep growing.
