HE WEIGHS HOW MUCH?! 😳

I took Blue to the vet and when the vet tech told me his weight, I thought there must be a mistake.

I put Blue on the scale a second time, thinking the scale was inaccurate the first time… 🤪

Nope. The scale was correct the first and second time.

Blue now weighs 147 lbs. ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY SEVEN POUNDS!! 🤯🤯

The vet tech said he’s not overweight and a healthy boy!

Over the past three years, he’s gone from a fluffy, little pup that didn’t listen to a giant polar bear who is the best boy with so much personality! 💙🐻‍❄️

Tulips & newborns have a lot in common! 🌷👶

Tulips need to be harvested every 2-3 hours and newborns need to be fed every 2-3 hours.

Tulip season and caring for a newborn are both physically exhausting.

But you know what? When a specialty tulip blooms or a newborn falls asleep on your chest, you wish you could freeze time. They are both beautiful and fleeting and so so worth it!

Our sweet girl arrived just 12 days before tulip season started. We knew it’d be pure chaos and it really was! But it was the most beautiful chaos and made for our most favorite Spring to date. 🤍

💥We took a chance…!😅

Our goal is always to plant our heat-loving annuals as close to May 15 as possible.

When the 15th arrived, the soil and air temperatures were lower than what’s recommended for heat-loving annuals like zinnias and cosmos. 🫠

However multiple days of rain were forecasted, which meant we would likely not be able to get back into the field for over a week. 😩

For a seasonal business, the difference of a week has a large impact on our offerings and therefore revenue.

So… WE WENT FOR IT and planted anyways 🤪 Afterwards we crossed our fingers and toes that the seeds would germinate (and not rot!) despite the cold temps.

This morning, just 5 days later, we spotted THOUSANDS OF SEEDLINGS! 🌱
Let’s hope they keep growing and we get an abundant crop!

It’s a huge relief to have the sunflowers, zinnias and cosmos in the ground on time as they are our staple crops. When the field dries out again, we will finish up with planting celosia, amaranth, marigolds, decorative grasses and more.

One thing I really love about flowers…

They can transport you to a memory, remind you of someone you love, mark a holiday, and more. ✨

Once hellebores start to set seed, they are ready to harvest and every year that’s right around Mother’s Day. 🤍 I love tucking these unique flowers into the bouquets for moms to enjoy!

As for white “Finola” tulips, I’ll always think of my grandmother 🤍 The last bouquet of Temecula Farms flowers I was able to make for her was bursting with Finola tulips 🥹💐

We planted 6000 tulips in the fall…🙃

Twice as many tulips as we had planted the previous year. 🙌 It seemed crazy, but we were DETERMINED to have tulips to offer this spring and for Mother’s Day!

Fast forward to today and we are officially sold out 🤯 We opened the Mother’s Day pre-orders earlier in the week and yall have reserved every single stem we have available. 🥹🥹🥹

We have the BEST community, but I guess we already knew that ☺️😉

All of these flowers were gifted to local teachers by their students and families! 🥹George and I enjoyed putting each bouquet together hoping it would make each teacher smile and feel appreciated! ✏️✨

🍀A fun night on the farm! 🌷

We had the first School Section 4H Floriculture meeting of the year this week!

These nights with the 4Hers are the best as they are always eager to learn and not afraid to dig in the soil!

We started their heat loving annuals in trays, which will produce blooms for fair. We also talked about harvesting techniques for tulips and daffodils for maximum vase life.

Everyone is excited to kick off their projects for the year and we can’t wait to see their results! How many blue ribbons will they bring home this year?! ☺️
