Blossom/Checkmate SAV 8158 gave us a beautiful 90lbs heifer calf! Ester, as sheā€™s affectionately called, joined us last night about 9:30. This registered girl will be staying in our herd as a replacement heifer šŸŒø

It finally happened!!! Cosette had her calf this afternoon. Fast easy labor and quick delivery. Momma and baby are doing great. Iā€™m absolutely in love with the markings.

Iā€™m over the moon. I raised Cosette from 3 days old. My friend Belinda knew I needed her (so grateful). Shes the sweetest cow ever, Iā€™m looking forward to milking.

Babies are on the way!!! We should have calves very soon, they are due 9/26.

2 of our registered Angus are bred to reg Angus bulls. One is a repeat breeding as we were so pleased with last years steer. Hoping for heifers to retain. Everyone think pink!!

1 of our registered Angus is bred to a club calf (Man Against Machine), hoping for a hairy steer for Beckett to show!

Cosette the Jersey is bred to a mini Hereford (4 Wiley Mountain Mitchell), either gender as this should be an amazing dual-purpose calf). Very excited to have Cosette in milk šŸ’œ.

Whatā€™s with the blue water?

We are having extreme heat here in SE KS. Many days over 100 and those that arenā€™t are very close. No rain so itā€™s very dry too. Heat stress is REAL!!! To help our girls out we provide electrolyte water in addition to their clean fresh water. They LOVE it and gulp it down. It keeps them happy and hydrated and lightens my worry. Well worth the cost for us!!

The pen these babies were in does not have natural shade and my shade tarp gave out (not to worry a new one has been ordered!) so we moved them into the barn with fans and their water. They are comfy and lounging.

Shade and fresh water arenā€™t luxuries, they are a REQUIREMENT for all species right now. Please be sure you are checking on your animals every day (if not several times a day).
