It's been a hard end to 2024 and a hard start to 2025 for

We lost one of our long time Team Kimi members on Monday. Chris Lee was a 20+ year veteran of our crew, and one who we counted on for each and every season. Whether it was as a copilot of the Kimi One delivery team, or as a hand to help out on the lot, Chris never wavered in his love and support of our little business. He embodied Team Kimi during his time with us, and his legacy sets a high bar for customer service, work ethic, and most importantly, friendship.

Visitation and funeral will begin at 10am, Saturday, January 4th, at Strifler Hamby mortuary on Macon road.

Chris was a big part of our lives and livelihoods for so many seasons, and it's hard to measure the loss of someone who seemed so permanent, yet, if you have a moment, spare a thought and prayer for his wife and daughters, as his absence now leaves a hole impossible to fill.

RIP Chris. You will be missed, and you won't be forgotten.

Today marks the end of , and the end of our 41st year in business. Gratitude gets tossed around a lot, but we are truly grateful, for all of you. This has not been an easy year for many, and for us to play a small part in the hope of a new beginning, whether this year or next, is truly an honor. Merry Christmas from all of us at Kimi Farms to all of you out in the great wide world. We'll see you again in 2025.

Also, this tree is riddled with mistletoe. If you need a little magic to get that kiss you've always wanted, swing by and pinch a bit off. No guarantees, but it couldn't hurt....

The holidays aren't always happy. For some of us, we're reminded of a chair that will always remain empty. For others, fresh wounds are torn open again. It's a season of hope and joy for many, yet also a season of sadness and loss for more than a few.

We have a few wreaths remaining, and we've placed them around our Kimi tree. If you're planning or thinking about spending some time with someone who's no longer here, come grab one. While it may only be a wreath, our hope is that it'll bridge the gap between grief and grace, and maybe it will be how the light gets in this Christmas.

A customer said that all this freshly made garland looks like Mr. Snuffleupagus. We think it looks more like Oscar the Grouch...as the main character at the end of The Fly. But the customer is always right, so we'll go with the wooly mammoth thing.

Not all Christmas tree lot salesmen wear capes. Most of us wear ring knives instead. The cape guys are just....weird.

Some trees love standing in the rain. Some prefer sleeping under shelter. Same goes for the sales team. Bring a towel and some caffeine when you come.

Someone once said that if you leap through the center of a freshly made wreath, you'll be transported to a magical winter wonderland, filled with elves and twinkling lights and candy and talking snowmen.

This is one of the views from our tree lot. A bridge on I-185 spanning Whittlesey Road. No big deal, until it's no longer there, then it's a really big deal. When Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina, over 650 public bridges were destroyed or damaged, rendering most local roads impassable. The estimate on the number of private bridges damaged is in the thousands.

Enter Lansing's Bridge to Recovery.

If you're familiar at all with the mountains of North Carolina, those that live there have little bridges all over the place, spanning creeks, streams, rivulets, ravines, and rivers. Helene destroyed almost all of them, trapping families and farmers on their land and making relief efforts next to impossible.

The people of Lansing's Bridge immediately recognized this as a critical and overlooked challenge in the region, and so they went to work, first as volunteers and now as an official nonprofit. Their work is saving both lives and livelihoods, and it's being done by local people with expert knowledge and deep connections to the people there. Building bridges literally AND metaphorically.

It's as cool of a nonprofit as you'll ever find, and one we're proud to support at the end of our season. You can find a link to their website in our bio, and if you're someone that likes to do something that has real, tangible, immediate impact, THIS is your new favorite organization.

After 40+ years in business, this is a view we're accustomed to. We've always been thankful for it. This year, however, we're counting our blessings ten-fold, as it's a sight we weren't certain we'd see. Hurricane Helene brought an extraordinary amount of devastation to our people in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. Many roads and bridges are still impassable, and hundreds of families remain in temporary shelters, having had their homes completely destroyed by floods. It's no minor miracle that we're open today; our growers worked tirelessly to rebuild roads, clear fields, and piece together the equipment and crews needed to harvest these trees. We're so very, very grateful for each and every one of them.

In their same spirit of community, we've chosen to give back a portion of our profits this year to several charities up there doing incredible work on the ground. You'll hear about them here as the season progresses, and if you feel so inclined, we imagine they'd welcome your support as well.

In the meantime, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We wouldn't be us without you being you, so thank YOU for being one of the most important parts of Kimi Farms over the years.

Well, here we are, and what a time we've had. Two hurricanes and a presidential election cycle that could be counted as a third. For a time there, we weren't sure we'd be open in 2024.

Helene in North Carolina was unlike anything that region has seen in hundreds of years. The stories we've heard from our growers, our truck drivers, and our friends are enough to break your heart into a thousand pieces. Whole communities gone, loved ones lost, entire businesses and farms wiped out.

The challenge hasn't been resiliency. These are some of America's best people. They're surviving because they've rallied around one another, supported one another, and reached out to one another, all while FEMA, nonprofits, and citizens the whole country over have lent their time, treasure, and talents. Often times in the worst of experiences, the best of us shines.

At one point, over 650 bridges were counted as destroyed or critically damaged. The trees are fine; the roads are not. We held our breath, waiting for the NCDOT and others to assess, repair, and report what would be open and when. And after a LOT of work, we have some good news....

Kimi Farms 2024 is a go.

We'll be sharing more in the days and weeks to come, but for now, we should look a lot like we did last year. Our trucks may take a little longer to get to us, so we appreciate your patience while we navigate the logistics of broken roads, broken hearts, and broken branches.

In the meantime, we're relieved and excited to be back, and we also want to announce that a portion of everything we sell this year will be returned to several nonprofits on the ground in Western North Carolina. We couldn't be us without them being them, and we want them to feel known, loved, and seen. Their suffering is our suffering, and if Kimi 2025 is in the cards, it'll only be because we've taken care of one another.
