A few new photos of our two Curly Standard Place 2025 foals, Jedi and *Joey's Lacey Dawn. Our filly, *Lacey Dawn is almost certainly a silver dapple. I thought that Jedi would be as well, and while I still think he has silver, I also think he may have inherited a cream gene from his dam, *Joyful Dixie.

Another photo of our lovely little silver dapple filly. She is gorgeous (ok, I am biased lol)

Well, if you build it, they will come LOL. About 10 years ago I brought my pony *Joey home. He was supposed to only be here temporarily as he came with another Curly filly who I had purchased and the seller insisted that I take him too, or no deal LOL. As you all know, the rest is history 🙂
*Joey was a feral 4 year old stallion who I planned to geld, halter-break and sell. But upon meeting him I realized that yes, he was a stallion, but he also had a heart of gold and I fell for him hard. I halter broke him and decided that there was "no" way I could part with him so over the years I purchased a few small mares for him and they had a few foals - but I really didn't want to have small ponies so I decided to breed him to my mare *Serenade (she was cooperative two years in a row on a steep embankment LOL). The resulting foals, Jaunty (now long yearling) and *Jude, 2024 c**t (including one photo of him) are amazing so I decided to train *Joey to collect so I could AI him to my full size mares It was a hilarious undertaking involving 3 people, several mares, some cooperative some not and basically us teaching *Joey that it was worth it to "work" with us.
So he is bred to 2 full size mares for 2025, pretty excited about that - but in the meantime..... I have been telling my kids for the past 10 years that "I bought a pony", suggesting that grandkids would be a great plan..... for the pony......!
Yesterday, my building of a good pony and *Joey's outstanding disposition, and my now 7 month old grandson all came together! First I drove *Joey for some company who wanted a ride in the carriage, then I put *Joey's little saddle on and he had his first ever rider, my grandson, Gabe! *Joey has been leadline trained for years, but no one wanted to put their kids on the "stallion". I am so stoked, Gabe seemed to like it and I hope he and *Joey can build their confidence together. *Joey will be 15 in the spring, so the timing and age will be about right in a few years. Ride on my boys!

We had a third foal that I didn't yet post about. Please help us to welcome our *Joey Junior, barn name *JJ.
I am sharing a few photos of him and sending a message to all who think that breeding horses (or any animals) is fun, easy and/or to be taken lightly.
This is the second foal for my little mare *Skipper's Cocoa Express EB. Her first foaling I missed entirely - she was 2 weeks early! Luckily, that birth was uncomplicated and her (now) coming 3 year old filly is lovely, healthy and so awesome!
I was there this time - believe me- I DO try very hard to attend all births and the following story is the WHY we need to be there!
*Cocoa foaled easily, if anything she foaled very quickly and *JJ was up and about in just about no time. *Cocoa passed her placenta quite quickly as well and all seemed good I stayed around to wait to see him nursing (as I ALWAYS do). He was interested in nursing, but *Cocoa kept getting down, lying on her side, sometimes her back - not violent rolling, but she was in obvious discomfort! I gave her 1.5ml of banamine orally and I texted the vet - it was around 3am, so I didn't really expect to hear back from the vet, but I wanted her to get the message as early in the am as possible. Another hour passed and *Cocoa was still doing the same things - little *JJ was mostly unconcerned and he and I bonded (that was the only good thing). I decided to give her more bananmine so I gave her another 2ml and after 20/30 minutes she finally started to feel a bit better. I fed her some hay cubes by hand - I wanted to make sure her digestion wasn't affected and she does think hay cubes are treats so it was a win/win. Finally little *JJ had a chance to nurse and get on with this next part of his very short life!
Around 5am the vet called (bless her!), she was up and about for some other night watch thing she had to do and she told me to check respiration and heart rate and under the tail to check for any excessive tearing - there was none. There seemed to be no reason for this to have occurred and yet it did. *Cocoa did need a second dose of banamine later that afternoon (per vet advice), but she continued to improve after that. I was SO glad that I decided to make sure I was there for this birth - had I not been I may have walked out to a dead or near dead pony in the am and an orphan to raise :(
People, please, please, please, if you plan to breed your mare - MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND THE BIRTH! Your mare or your foal's life may depend upon you to do something.
Now, please enjoy the photos of *Joe Junior!

So just wanted to share photos from yesterday of our newest filly.
I am going to call her *Imagination. This is a nod to her sire *Icon of course, but also to her maternal grand-mother, affectionately known around here as Mirage. We will call her *Em for a barn name.
