🌿 Farm Update & A Personal Share 🌿
We’ve been a little quiet on here, and we want to share why. Our daughter has faced serious health challenges since she was very young. At just 3 years old, she became critically ill with a rare disease called atypical HUS (aHUS). She spent 10 days at Children’s, several of those in the PICU in a coma-like state, and we came terrifyingly close to losing her. By God’s grace, she pulled through and has been in remission ever since. 💛
But her journey didn’t end there. Around age 11, she was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease. Since our move to Comanche, her symptoms have worsened, and this most recent flare has been one of the hardest yet. For the past six weeks she has been mostly bedridden, battling a co-infection called Bartonella. She’s lost a significant amount of weight, and we’re seeking help from multiple doctors — infectious disease specialists as well as alternative providers — to give her the best chance at healing.
Unfortunately, because chronic Lyme is not fully recognized as a treatable illness by insurance providers, none of her treatments are covered. The complexity of the disease and the individualized care it requires means every appointment, medication, and therapy must be paid out of pocket. Navigating this path is overwhelming at times, but we remain hopeful. 🙏
Because of all this, we’ve decided that all farm sales will go directly toward treatment costs. Every basket of produce, every sale, goes straight to supporting her recovery.
🍂 On the farm side, life continues to grow even in hard times. Our fall garden is coming along beautifully, and we’re excited to be back at our first market in Waco on 9/13! We’re also offering the option for weekly online produce orders for local pickup (no subscription required). 👉 If you’re interested in local pickup, please let us know!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for loving our family, supporting our farm, and most of all, lifting up our girl during this season. 🌱💚
